Yes, addressing security concerns is a must.At the same time the banks have to campaign more aggresively about mobile banking. Now in India there are more number of mobile users than net users. The banks should concentrate on rural/semi-urban...

Mobile banking is an amazing technology, the cause of failure is mainly due to its security concern. People feel that banking through mobile is not safe. So improving the security process in mobile banking will accelerate the customer adoption rate.
soumya saxena  |  Supported idea  "Address security concerns "  |  3 years ago
I think the two main factors are awarenes security about the facility being provided.the media channels are working so goo that awareness can be generated in some time . but if there is no security of transactions is involve .it will not work

I agree with Anirban. Remembering too many numbers is not always an easy task to do. But those banks are remembering PIN for internet and telephone banking are indeed taking a good initiative. Therefore, we should have a minimum number of PIN...

The use of mobile for banking i.e, towards payments and settlements(remittances) would help in financial inclusion. The use of non banks to accept cash for topping up the accounts can only make financial inclusion successful till such time all the...

Today, I came across a news item in Business Standard about “Indians being most mobile banking savvy’ based on a recent survey. Normally, I do not really take these surveys too seriously due to the faulty nature of data gathering that happens for most of the surveys. However, I am inclined to believe these figures due to popularity of cell phones in India. The mobile sector in India has grown from around 10 million subscribers in 2002 to reach 150 million by early 2007 registering an average growth of over 90% year-on-year basis.. India’s mobile growth is among the fastest in the world. The mobile phones have already surpassed landlines by a huge margin. Mobile Banking is one of the popular...

Mobile Banking is going to be another killing application in the coming days. Many players have already tried this. The figures given above might not be accurate but what all I can say here is that the market is badly demanding such applications now

Safe Internet banking Eight simple steps to make banking online secure There is no greater feeling than receiving your paycheque, is there? After an arduous month at work, the number of zeroes on the cheque makes it all worthwhile. But like most things on the Internet, the onus of a safe and secure banking experience is on you, the user.   To make sure that you can sleep soundly at night, here are some ...

Subscription based alerts ensure that a customer receives requisite information through the preferred channel. This leads to greater convenience and enables better monitoring of banking transactions in real time.
Swati Raut  |  Added idea  "Business Agility "  |  4 years ago
I prefer agility more than coverage. Built on industry standard platforms J2EE and .NET, this provides the bank tremendous flexibility to extend its product portfolio and customize the solution according to requirements. It enables the banks to...

i believe real life socialising is a must, when your social need for interaction is being met on th einternet you hardly need to speak outsid ethe internet, spending long hours on net is in many ways not good for health.

we need to reduce continuous exposures to PC screens or internets. ergonomical suggestions like relaxing every 20 minutes etc. would anyway help, but when it comes to addiction, we have to avoid it.... but again, preaching easy and following is...

Credit risk management is a very important area for for the banking sector and there are wide prospects of growth and other financial institutions also face problems which are financial in nature. Also, banking professionals have to maintain a balance between the risks and the returns. For a large customer base banks need to have a variety of loan products. If bank lowers the interest rates for the loans it offers, it will suffer In terms of equity, a bank must have substantial amount of capital on its reserve, but not too much that it misses the investment revenue, and not too little that it leads itself to financial instability and to the risk of regulatory non-compliance. Credit risk management is risk assessment that comes in an investment. Risk often comes in investing and in the allocation of capital. The risks must be assessed so as to derive a sound investment decision. And decisions should be made by balancing the risks and returns. Giving loans is a risky affair for bank...

In today's world of fast food, fast cars, and instant gratification, people expect to be in touch at all times. We have become conditioned to staying in touch with businesses, friends, and families. Because of this desire for instant data, we have the Internet, cell phones, Wi-Fi, MP3 players, and DVD players. As the equipment needed to drive this thirst has become smaller and smaller, we find ourselves looking for portable replacements for our bulky desktop computers. This article guides you into the exciting world of Windows mobile development so you can take advantage of an expanding opportunity to supply software to this burgeoning market. Getting Started There are currently two choices for producing mobile software using a Windows operating system: ActiveSync on XP, and—for Vista—a new interface built upon ActiveSync technology, called the Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC). In the recent CoDe Focus issue on Mobile PC Development (2007, Volume 4, Issue 2), Nick Landry's...

Nearly everything is finding a home on the Internet, and software development is no different. But this trend called platform-as-a-service, or PaaS, could have huge implications. In theory, PaaS makes it far easier for businesses and other enterprises to develop their own applications, instead of licensing or buying the applications from software companies. The change represents a fundamental disruption to how software gets distributed and consumed, says Paul McNamara, chief executive of small PaaS vendor Coghead. The trend marks "a significant watershed event," he said. PaaS can be applied to any market, by any company, according to William Blair Co. analyst Laura Lederman. "The emergence of the PaaS offering also represents something more fundamental: a challenge to the way applications are developed and to the vendors that currently dominate software platforms," Lederman wrote in a recent report. One such dominant software platform is Microsoft 's ( MSFT ) Windows. How much of a...

Financial engineering has provided innumerable lucrative opportunities for otherwise indigent mathematicians Nevertheless the turbulence in the bond markets in the last couple of months, at a time when the world economy’s prospects seemed set fair, have exposed a guilty secret of the financial engineering profession: its methods don’t work. First area of failure is liquidity. Theoretically, if financial engineers design ever fancier artificial securities and derivatives, but everybody uses the same mathematical models to value them, there is no reason why an active market should not operate in the securities, at whatever price the models direct. In practice this only works in calm markets. In times of market turbulence, when doubts arise about either the mathematical models themselves or the underlying assets from which value is derived, the true value of these artificial assets becomes thoroughly unclear. Buyers assess their value at the lowest possible level, and refuse to...

Neural networks in financial engineering Neural networks have shown considerable successes in modeling financial data series. However, a major weakness of neural modeling is the lack of established procedures for performing tests for misspecified models, and tests of statistical significance for the various parameters that have been estimated.  This is a serious disadvantage in applications where there is a strong culture for testing not only the predictive power of a model or the sensitivity of the dependent variable to changes in the inputs but also the statistical significance of the finding at a specified level of confidence. Rarely is this more important than in the case of financial engineering, where the data generating processes are dominantly stochastic and only partially deterministic. Partly a tutorial, partly a review, this paper describes a collection of typical applications in options pricing, cointegration, the term structure of interest rates and models of...
