45 million is too small a number even for the urban population .....prices have a big role to play ..... bsnl which i suppose can do a lot more by providing broadband  free of cost by default and then have a cost index after 100 mb of usage ........

I agree with what Nishant said, penetration depends on the usage and value of that specific product. So I don't think internet is dependent on regional language, and people also don't expect that. Nowadays most of them are familiar with English...

its not only in internet but in many fields.language problem restrict people to express and present what they have with in.this way many ventures hardly comes in existence.

Nope, internet penetration in India does not depend on regional languages. It depends on the awareness and literacy rate.

Too many cooks spoil the broth, goes the old saying. Indian government is only that kind of a broth spoiled by so many cooks. An Internet Minister would do nothing except increasing the burden of expenditure and state treasury and tax payers....

Wi-Fi networks have limited range. A typical wireless router using 802.11b or 802.11g with a stock antenna might have a range of 32 m (120 ft) indoors and 95 m (300 ft) outdoors. So Wifi is more suited for densely populated urban areas but not...

The internet users in India has seen a lower than expected growth all these years despite major expectations arising from the frivolous rise seen in telecom subscribers count. A latest report by Forrester, forecasts that India would become the third largest country in terms of internet users across the globe. The report takes into account an average growth of 10-20 percent in online users in India. The report also forecasts the total number of internet users worldwide would touch 2.2 billion by 2013. Currently the estimates for total online population in India ranges anywhere between 50 million to 80 million users. China currently has 300million+ online user, it recently overtook US in term...

Reliance Communications has announced a host of measures to increase mobile telecom and Internet penetration in rural India. The Anil Ambani-controlled company has launched new initiatives in its Internet service plan: BharatNet, Grameen (a new value-added service on mobiles) and M2M (machine to machine) solutions for rural customers. BharatNet plan is RCom’s high-speed wireless Internet service that will cover 20,000 rural locations. It will be designed for rural and sub-urban markets offering speeds of approximately 153 kbps. This tariff will be available across rural India, excluding the metros and top 100 cities, according to a company press release. RCom is offering BharatNet Internet ...

Comscore has announced in its latest report that the Indian internet penetration has grown by 17% year. Comscore numbers do not include cyber cafe or mobile traffic. Mobile traffic would be sizable given 500 million plus phones and about 5-10% of that can be assumed to be GPRS subscribers and hence a rough estimate of 30 million mobile internet users can be pegged and add to that cyber cafe access. But again all this could over lap as well in terms of unique users. What is sad though that India is 1/8th the size of the Internet penetration in China.

Security experts have discovered the biggest series of cyber attacks to date, involving the infiltration of the networks of 72 organizations including the United Nations, governments and companies around the world. The long list of victims in the five-year campaign include the governments of the United States, Taiwan, India, South Korea, Vietnam and Canada; the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN); the International Olympic Committee (IOC); the World Anti-Doping Agency; and an array of companies, from defense contractors to high-tech enterprises. "What is happening to all this data ... is still largely an open question. However, if even a fraction of it is used to build better competing products or beat a competitor at a key negotiation (due to having stolen the other team's playbook), the loss represents a massive economic threat." Jim Lewis, a cyber expert with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, was briefed on the discovery by McAfee. He said it was...

Why is using email marketing services sometimes a better option than direct mail? There are many options available to the business or charitable organization that is in need of a way to better communicate with their target audience. Two of the most popular are email marketing and direct mail. While both have their pros and cons, email is often a better option than its traditional counterpart. This article will explain why by highlighting some of the advantages it has over direct mail. Cost Effectiveness One of the best qualities email marketing has going for it is its low cost. The price you would pay to reach hundreds or even thousands of contacts is downright cheap in comparison to trying to connect with the same number of people with direct mail. More businesses are finding out that such traditional methods are cost prohibitive in today’s economy. With direct mail, you have to factor in the cost for creating your actual marketing materials, printing it all out, and mailing it to...
