In the thinking of project management community, risk can be both a negative and a positive thing. Some risks do become opportunities. Risk has been around and will be around forever. In the PM community risk has to be discussed, listed, assesed,...

Dear Deepa,                    Investors risk appetite varies depending on the market sentiments. When the market is in a boom phase no matter what is the real value of the security, investor liquidates all his liquid as well as illiquid...

In my opinion risk appetite of the person remains same but his risk perception changes with the time, when market is at boom he anticipates less risk even though the actual risk is higher , risk perception depends on market sentiments in bearish...

I agree with Mr. Ameya. We have got ample space in our country and affordable employees to execute the operations, the government should make special efforts to exploit these opportunites to boost up the investments in India.

There are two arguments I dont fully agree but these are the standard explanation given whenever there is a fall.  That market sentiments are related to stability in governance and that present state of economy encourages private equity players...

Mean reversion  is a mathematical methodology commonly used for stock investing, but it can be applied to other processes. In general terms the idea is that both a stock's high and low prices are temporary, and that a stock's price will tend to have an average price over time. Mean reversion involves first identifying the trading range for a stock, and then computing the average price. (Persons using extensive financial analytical techniques establish the average price as it relates to assets, earnings, etc.) When the current market price is less than the average price, the stock is considered attractive for purchase, with the expectation that the price will rise. When the current market pr...

7 ways to get right info on right stocks...   There are many lessons to learn from the 2008 market crash. One of the most important is: understand a company before investing in it.  If we do, the market is offering a good chance to pick quality stocks at reasonable prices. But the problem is that without sound information, any investment decision would be based on weak reasoning and is unlikely to support your overall portfolio performance. But how do you know that the information you have is accurate? For that, we need to do your research well and look at the right place for the right information. Here are seven parameters which I came across in a article which I want...

His investment philosophy is to keep an open mind to new ideas and concepts.here I going to share his article with you all. According to him the questions on the minds of investors are : Do we invest now? Or could things get worse from here? If so, how bad can it get? The other questions that...

Here I want to share the article of S.Vaidyanathan ( Portfolio Manger Sundaram BNP Paribas) holds an MBA from IIM Bangalore and has 15 years experience in researching the financial markets. At every stage of the market, it is important to ask yourself as well as others who are informed about what is happening. A tendency to ask hard questions only in difficult times is not appropriate.Asking hard questions in bullish phases is equally, if not more important.Investors should use this as a broad guide post and make specific changes based on the risk, return and liquidity preferences. Take note of changed circumstances: It is important for each of us to recognize that many key variables have c...

The other day I was in a restaurant and saw a sign advertising "Sliders Fridays." From what I gathered, they offered a deep discount on tiny hamburgers, called sliders, on Friday nights. The interesting thing about this discovery is that I own the restaurant and it's the first I knew of it. (Stacey's at Waterford:  www.eatatstaceys.com ) I don't just own the restaurant. I also manage it, although I use that term loosely. I've taken the concept of hands-off management to the next level. Most of the time I have no idea what the staff is up to. They organize customer events, execute marketing ideas, hire and fire, change the menu, and pretty much anything else they want. I only get involved if there is a largish expense that needs to be approved. I see the financials daily, by e-mail, but I'm mostly about the bottom line. As a well-known critic of managers, I painted a big red bulls eye on my back when I started managing the restaurant. For the first year I was involved in the details...
