Agreed that high risk should be rewarded with high returns. And Equity has given higher returns in long run is almost unarguable. But I think asset allocation of equity or debt  in terms of higher or lower percentage must be done .... based on the...

Because they think that these shares are safer since they produce good dividend yield and assumes that this dividend will help to compensate the possible loss in the market price of the share.   The idea is simple: for investing in any stocks the investor is taking a risk (beta). For taking that risk, he need a particular percentage of return to compensate it and if he gets a premium (dividend) that can compensate the part of risk, with this excess return from dividend.   But not all dividend yield shares deliver this objective due to the high risk associ...

Jyoti Rath  |  Argues in support of  "Yes"  |  3 years ago
I think it is a good time to go for silver as well, with the price movements is merely a reflection of its properties being an industrial as well as precious metal. This is because silver maintains a more than 90% positive correlation with both...

Facts about "Jana Gana Mana" - Just a thought for the National Anthem! How well do you know about it?     I have always wondered who is the "adhinayak" and "bharat bhagya vidhata",    whose praise we are singing. I thought might be Motherland India! Our current National Anthem "Jana Gana Mana" is sung throughout the country.   Did you know the following about our national anthem, I didn't.   To begin with, India's national anthem, Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka, was written by Rabindranath Tagore in honour of King George V and the Queen of  England when they visited India in 1919.   To honour their visit Pandit Motilal  Nehru had the five stanzas included, which are in praise of the King and  Queen. (And most of us think it is in the praise of our great motherland!! !)   In the original Bengali verses only those provinces that were under British rule, i.e. Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha etc. were mentioned. None of  the  princely states were recognised which are integral parts of India...

One young academically excellent person went for an interview for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; BUT in that Company, the director did the last interview, made the last decision. The director discovered from the CV, that the youth's academic result was excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never was there a year he did not score. The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarship in school?" and the youth answered "no". The director asked, " Did your father pay your school fees?". The youth answered, "my father passed away when I was one year old and it was my mother who paid my school fees". The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" the youth answered, "my mother worked as cloth cleaner." The director requested the youth to show his hands and the youth showed a pair of hands that was smooth and perfect to the director. The director asked, " Did you ever help your mother wash clothes...
