It's Pathetic !!! From: Steve Ballmer Sent: Tuesday, May 05, 2009 To: Microsoft - All Employees Subject: Update: Realigning Resources and Reducing Costs In January, in response to the global economic downturn, I announced our plan to adjust the company’s cost structure through spending reductions and job eliminations. Today, we are implementing the second phase of this plan. This is difficult news to share. Because our success at Microsoft has always been the direct result of the talent, hard work, and commitment of our people, eliminating positions is hard. Today’s action includes positions in the United States and in a number of countries around the world. In the US, affected employees wi...

Corporate Alumni and Boomerang Recruiting Programs Are Hot Due to Layoffs Economic downturns, mergers, and acquisitions all place pressure on organizations to curb labor costs. No time in the last decade has that tenet been more apparent than right now. Layoffs, large or small, force organizations to cut loose the talent in which they have invested salary and training dollars. While talent released during a layoff today may seem like little more than an expense, tomorrow it could be the difference between success and failure. World-class organizations need to develop a process that will allow the organization to quickly and easily “re-recruit” alumni with proven track records of success whe...

Try and reduce expenses as far as possible. But DONT throw out your best employees. Try innovative solutions like - give them a six month holiday without pay, or incentives on new business they bring-in, brain-storm strategies for the future.

Hi friends.... According to a web report, Wipro has given marching orders to as many as 33 of its employees who formed the part of the company's candidate relationship management team. The team was specifically responsible for talent acquisition. However, with a hiring freeze across centres, these recruiters had little to do. The report quotes an employee who on the condition of anonymity said that they were told on March 17 that they have only thirteen days left in the organisation. By March 30, all the team members were relieved from service and the team was dissolved. According to him, none of them were given notice. Earlier in February, the company said it would honour the job offers it...

Hi Friends, I am sharing with the reviews of IBM on work culture, growth prospects salary, done by their employees. Please share your views. A Project Manager wrote: What I like about IBM: "IBM offers a very flexible working environment. In most cases, no one will ask you what time you come or go from office. Neither the logs of the swipe card will be analyzed to take some action against you in normal circumstances. In special circumstances, the company can even allow you to work from home. No blocking of internet or phones . All in all, you are "not" working in a jail. It has a wealth of knowledge..... " What I don't like about IBM: "Sometimes you feel that there are too many processes to follow. The company is so huge that it is a challenge to make people aware of existing processes. I have often seen it happening that sometimes small groups within IBM try to develop their own processes, often unaware that such a best practice already exists and can be leveraged. Ofcourses, Lou...

The King is ailing, who will succeed the King? That is of course the question on the mind of Apple’s shareholders, employees and to a lesser extent its customers and clients (who will jump to a Droid or Google, if and when they create products that excite and service them as well as Apple products). Despite protestations and reassurances from Jobs and Apple COO, Tim Cook, and despite their not just weathering, but thriving during Jobs-less times, an Apple without Jobs makes many nervous to their core. If we were to think of Jobs not as a unique and irreproducible person, but as a mindset, skill set and capacity that could be deconstructed and then modeled, not only could Apple continue its amazing growth, but other companies might follow suit. Much has been written about Jobs trying to figure out his “secret sauce” so that others might use it to propel their companies and careers to extraordinary outcomes. 1. Dropped out of Reed College 2. Calligraphy 3. Psychedelics...
