Hi!! Received this as an email and felt like sharing it here!! A letter from Indira Nooyi to her associates... Dear Fellow Associates, October 22nd was a difficult day for me. This was the infamous Friday when my beloved baseball team – the New York Yankees – were eliminated from the playoffs by the Texas Rangers. You see, all of us NY Yankees fans just take it for granted that our team will be in the World Series, and maybe even win it again.   But alas, it was not meant to be. The Texas Rangers outscored, outfielded, out maneuvered and simply out-played the Yankees throughout the entire American League Championship Series this October. They won the best of seven games 4 to 2.   I was fort...

We all actually know all these things....all we need is daily reinforcements...words like these do that...I would really put them on a wall and reinforce myself daily :)

What Indira Nooyi has said has been said earlier by many other great leaders and thinkers in the past. But, how many of us really follow the simple truth?

I really surprise, women argue that they are second to none and proving it time and again. Surprisingly, most of the questions expressing doubt about their own abilities are from women. I believe that though they have every quality on par with...

There is much that is written about leadership; leadership styles, techniques and also biographies of leaders that have inspired people to action. While this is true, there is the everyday leadership and a slightly different outlook to leadership as well. Here are a few of them. 1. There Are Different Kinds of Leaders Among leaders are formal and informal leaders. Formal leaders are elected to their positions like congressmen, senators and office bearers of clubs. Informal leaders on the other hand are those we look up to because of their experience and wisdom. This could be your parents, grandparents or elders in your community. Informal leaders can also be those that are respected because...

This was a news  item in the Times of India 19th March,2008 with head lines ' World 's richest man doesn't use office car. Mr Warren Buffet was recently in India. And there is a buzz about his successor of Indian origin. He has not taken salary hike for 25 years and possibly on date. He pays back the company for minor items such as phone calls, postage and favour from office personal that are personal in nature, does not fly in company jet for personal visits, and gives four times bigger pay package to his Chief Financial officer. What is your take on Indian corporate world?
S. Muralidharan  |  Commented  |  1 year ago
In India, the context should have been other way around! We should see the generation of Leaders who strictly say 'NO' to bribes paid to political groups, politicians, bureaucrats and allow their private charter planes to be used by the...

I am not sure whether this is really happened or not, But I liked it and want to share with all my friend here. Please read once ............ One day Maths teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers. That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual. On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of the comments. No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She...

In many ways, a manager has to be a leader, so therefore a manager will have many of the traits that a leader does. However, I feel the term 'manager' applies primarily to business, it's in a manager's best interest to lead his co-workers effectively, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets. In my experience, a leader is more of a social thing; more associated with team work, too. Go to Discussion http://lnkd.in/wUJe5E

The other day I was in a restaurant and saw a sign advertising "Sliders Fridays." From what I gathered, they offered a deep discount on tiny hamburgers, called sliders, on Friday nights. The interesting thing about this discovery is that I own the restaurant and it's the first I knew of it. (Stacey's at Waterford:  www.eatatstaceys.com ) I don't just own the restaurant. I also manage it, although I use that term loosely. I've taken the concept of hands-off management to the next level. Most of the time I have no idea what the staff is up to. They organize customer events, execute marketing ideas, hire and fire, change the menu, and pretty much anything else they want. I only get involved if there is a largish expense that needs to be approved. I see the financials daily, by e-mail, but I'm mostly about the bottom line. As a well-known critic of managers, I painted a big red bulls eye on my back when I started managing the restaurant. For the first year I was involved in the details...

By Elaine Watson, It is “unfortunate” and “disappointing” that a new manufacturer-driven food safety standard has been launched to compete directly with retailerled third-party certification programmes, according to the British Retail Consortium (BRC), reports sister title Food Manufacture. On the new Food Safety System Certification scheme, FSSC 22000 – which is based on the ISO 22000 standard for food quality and backed by Nestlé, Unilever, Kraft and Danone – BRC director of Global Standards Dr Geoff Spriegel said: “ For some big branded food manufacturers, the BRC global standard is still regarded as something that was set up by UK retailers for their own-label suppliers. The big brands were always more behind ISO standards. “But the BRC standard has since grown into something that is recognised all over the globe, so it is disappointing that the big manufacturers didn’t all support it, as it’s already there and up and running. I’m not sure why they deemed it necessary to...
