the old geezer writes again. here's a more non physical view of the 'second law of thermodynamics' (SLOTD). the law of entropy, or the SLOTD comprises one of the most fundamental laws of physics. it is also viewed as 'the law of disorder'. it is a straight forward law which states that in a closed system, you can't finish any physical process with as much useful energy as you had started with - some of it will always be wasted. this means that a perpetual motion machine is impossible - it will require doses of energy to continually go on. entropy (subject of the second law) energy (subject of the first law) and their relationship are fundamental to an undersatnding of not only physics, but of LIFE itself. many of us, even today, feel that having aquired the basics (in school), grads, post grads professional degrees / diplomas / skills (in various colleges), a few years of work ex, and a health looking network, our job is done. that would loosely relate to the first law - in that we...
