About "Management Education - Is It Necessary...." topic:

The usefulness of the management education program has been hard to measure and evaluate. While it cannot be denied the stress on analytical abilities and concepts does give a broad view of what constitutes management, one can also learn the same through self studies easily if one can only exercise the disciplines of the academics into one's own lifestyle.

So, lets discuss more on this....

MBA should not be the minimal criteria for being manager; but good MBA study obviously helps to groom anyone towards managerial role. Throughout the life everyone is being learned in various facet of learning but MBA is one of the most integrated...

I agree,, MBA study gives us a additional knowledge for managerial role.
Punam Dutta  |  Argues in support of  "No"  |  1 year ago
I don't agree...An MBA degree is at best a degree which due to its expensiveness and academic entry barriers attracts the top 5% of the students who are generally good in disciplined academics. The HR fraternity mistakenly thinks because they...

Despite being big fan of capitalism and capitalistic policies and a critique of government intervention in every damn matter, I still feel, Government must bear the cost of higher education and it must be entirely under government control or...

Disha Roy  |  Argues in support of  "Individuals should pay"  |  1 year ago
Individuals should certainly pay for their higher education. Anything else is deeply unfair to their fellow citizens.  When the education loans are provided and have the provision of repaying it once they get a good job in hand, who will give...

Management Institutes are not Developing True Future Managers
Jaygopal Raghavan  |  Argues in support of  "Management Institutes are not Developing True Future Managers"  |  1 year ago
Future managers cannot be developed with an eye on theory and too much emphasis on the job market. Take for eg. the IIPM headed by arindham - who himself was a good management theorist. Today IIPM is nothing but a mass churner of MBA grads. How...

Management education in India is mared by the inability of the students to correllate their academic work with manifestation of what they study in the environment. For example most of these theories of management were created in a 'free market'...

A BIG no..management study does guarantee success..but it do add premium and act as a catalyst....
Azhar Kazmi  |  Argues in support of  "No"  |  1 year ago
Pramod, if you use the term 'guarantee success' then I would say it might not be like that. Management education may only serve to make it more probable not guarantee success in business.

The other day I was in a restaurant and saw a sign advertising "Sliders Fridays." From what I gathered, they offered a deep discount on tiny hamburgers, called sliders, on Friday nights. The interesting thing about this discovery is that I own the restaurant and it's the first I knew of it. (Stacey's at Waterford:  www.eatatstaceys.com ) I don't just own the restaurant. I also manage it, although I use that term loosely. I've taken the concept of hands-off management to the next level. Most of the time I have no idea what the staff is up to. They organize customer events, execute marketing ideas, hire and fire, change the menu, and pretty much anything else they want. I only get involved if there is a largish expense that needs to be approved. I see the financials daily, by e-mail, but I'm mostly about the bottom line. As a well-known critic of managers, I painted a big red bulls eye on my back when I started managing the restaurant. For the first year I was involved in the details...

In many ways, a manager has to be a leader, so therefore a manager will have many of the traits that a leader does. However, I feel the term 'manager' applies primarily to business, it's in a manager's best interest to lead his co-workers effectively, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets. In my experience, a leader is more of a social thing; more associated with team work, too. Go to Discussion http://lnkd.in/wUJe5E
