Systematic attention to details with a set of processes that are tailor made to your project and team coupled with management of stakeholder expectations.

1.      If  we want above average results, we must first become an above average person.   2.      Management of people is a sales process.   3.      We don't discover our greatest potential.  We DECIDE on it.   4.      Delegate the end result, not the method of achieving it.   5.      Catch people doing something right, or nearly right.   6.      People who feel good about themselves produce good results.   7.      Regard everyone as a potential winner.   8.      Success by the inch is a cinch, by the yard it is hard.   9.      Keep the leaders leading.   10.    Success is often dependent, not on doing amazing brilliant things, but on doing the commonplace unusually well.   11.    Recognis...

2 Many
Jayant Havanur, PMP  |  Added idea  "Business Savvy"  |  2 years ago
Project managers are being increasingly business savvy and are playing instrumental roles in influencing divisional/department and organizational strategies. This is one the biggest changes I see for a Project manager.
Mallaya Pandravada  |  Supported idea  "Many"  |  2 years ago
Thanks for throwing more light on the topic mihir. It would be more useful if all the points are given one line explanation and little elaboration.
Radha V  |  Supported idea  "Enhanced Requirements Metrics"  |  2 years ago
I agree to Samir's comments and in addition to that, it would be better, if there is Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs), along with the deliverables to the client.

The following discussion about project management has been pulled together from various sources including books, courses, presentations, and my own experiences. This is by no means intended to be a complete treatment of the subject of project management. Nor is it going to make you a project management professional. A project is a unique venture with specific start and end dates. This is different from an ongoing task that doesn't have an end date. Projects are run by people and often involve different parts of an organization. Const...

In my opinion compromising will the most suitable one for the parties who is having both power and interest. As both parties have high influence, both can compromise with each other rather than continuing the conflicts.
Phani Dasam, PMP  |  Argues in support of  "Collaborating"  |  2 years ago
Both sets of concerns are too important to be compromised to gain commitment from both parties and improve relationships. But the concerns here is time is limited to resolve the conflict and there is not enough trust, respect or communication...

It all depends on how we design a PMO, there are no set rules and no direct relation with organisation structure. It all depends on what the Sr. Management is interested and looking to improve. A typical PMO function is to report on financials...

This is a story from web :     One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops - a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well. At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on. Six feet eight, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the driver and said, "Big John doesn't pay!" and sat down at the back. Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically weak? Well, he was. Naturally, he didn't argue with Big John, but he wasn't happy about it. The next day the same thing happened - Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down.  And the next day, and the next. This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him. Finally he could stand it no longer. He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff. By the end of the...

In many ways, a manager has to be a leader, so therefore a manager will have many of the traits that a leader does. However, I feel the term 'manager' applies primarily to business, it's in a manager's best interest to lead his co-workers effectively, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets. In my experience, a leader is more of a social thing; more associated with team work, too. Go to Discussion http://lnkd.in/wUJe5E

Credit risk management is a very important area for for the banking sector and there are wide prospects of growth and other financial institutions also face problems which are financial in nature. Also, banking professionals have to maintain a balance between the risks and the returns. For a large customer base banks need to have a variety of loan products. If bank lowers the interest rates for the loans it offers, it will suffer In terms of equity, a bank must have substantial amount of capital on its reserve, but not too much that it misses the investment revenue, and not too little that it leads itself to financial instability and to the risk of regulatory non-compliance. Credit risk management is risk assessment that comes in an investment. Risk often comes in investing and in the allocation of capital. The risks must be assessed so as to derive a sound investment decision. And decisions should be made by balancing the risks and returns. Giving loans is a risky affair for bank...
