Apple tops customer satisfaction survey The figures comes from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a survey that's been run by the University of Michigan since the mid-1990s. Its latest numbers are based on data collected in Q2. Apple has been named the computer maker that most satisfies its customers after it scored a personal best of 85 out of 100 - ten points above its nearest rival, Dell - in a key US customer satisfaction index. Dell's score of 75 was a small increase over the 74 points it achieved in 2007 but enough to put it into second place ahead of last year's number two, HP. It also put it just ahead of the industry average of 74 points. HP scored 73, Gateway 72, and...

10 Butter Tea Fascinating Fact : In Tibet, a common drink is butter tea - it is made from yak butter, salt, and tea. The average Tibetan can drink 50 - 60 cups of this tea in any one day! It is made by drying Chinese tea in the road for several days (to let it acquire a strong flavor). The tea is then boiled for up to half a day and churned in bamboo churns to which salt, a pinch of soda, and rancid butter have been added. When drinking the tea, you can blow the scum (from the butter) away from the edge of the cup and sip. Some Tibetans add “tsu” and flour to their tea (in much the same way as we add milk and sugar). Tsu is a mixture of hardened cheese, butter, and sugar. When you sip the t...

If we analyse the nature of students' demand, what they want as customers are: Expert Teaching Quality Learning Resources Well-structured Courses Either Marketable Skills or a Strong Brand or even both Flexibility Fair Assessment The concept that that all learning can be made fun and easy is flawed. Although it should be interesting, the task is to teach skills. It is difficult to get away with poor quality teaching any longer. However, in the area of assessment, there is insufficient objectivity and discipline at present. There is a strong case that all assessment should be anonymous and conducted at arm’s length. WINNERS AND LOSERS There are however a number of areas of new demand which fundamentally represent good news for those in the education sector who can ride the wave in a clever way: the knowledge worker; business advice; the law; health; "edutainment"; financial planning. Not everyone can win. Among the winners   in these changing conditions are likely to be: those who...

Hi All, Came across a nice artical, thought beneficial for all HR professionals : What else does it take to K.E.E.P your employees satisfied? "People work for much more than a paycheck." Most employees are looking for common elements from the people they work for . People, regardless of position, seek a good " Relationship with their manager ", " A positive work environment ", and " Praise and recognition ". Successfully combine these three elements and implement them effectively and you have created the foundation for a great retention strategy. It is obvious that these crucial elements have little or nothing to do with compensation. Instead they remind us an important fact: People work for much more than a paycheck. People not only want their jobs to be a source of income but a source of attaining pride, professional development, enjoyment, and acknowledgment of their skills and efforts as well. With this in mind, I would like to introduce to you a retention-boosting method,...

How to spot a fake resume Here are somethings you need to look for to ensure that you are not being hoodwinked into recruiting someone with fake credentials. The information that is most often faked are the following: 1. Skills 2. Work details/Projects 3. Salary details 4. Employment records 5. Educaton records There are reasonably easy ways to get to the truth, though they are not completely foolproof. Skills The fake resume exponent knows that companies search for candidates on job sites using keywords. They also know that to end up in the top 2 - 3 pages, they need to match as many keywords as possible. So in their resume, they add all skills that are commonly searched for by companies, whether they possess the skill or not. The way to defeat this is to ask all candidates to send in their updated profiles with the following details for each of their skills Have you just heard about it, or have you undergone training, or do you have hands-on experience? If you have undergone...
