About "Metro rail construction issues" topic:
Rapid growth in economy demands infrastructure that keeps pace with it.
With the increase in the population, the burden of urban banes like
poor infrastructure, traffic congestion and inadequate public transport
have started taking a toll on the citylife. So, Metro came into
existence and now Metro rail is being constructed in most of the
prominent cities in India.
And Delhi as we say is already having a
Metro train and is of world class standards, but in the recent past we
have seen many unfortunate Metro train accidents and then the
construction failures time and again, So, how to improve construction
with regard to metro train infrastructure? How safety can be ensured
in Metro rail construction.

Maximum amount of work should be undertaken at night and monitoring should be ensured by Supervisory staff at the site. In fact, it would be safer if the traffic is closed where Metro work is going on.

This is a subject matter of Engineers. They must look into "Safety First" - the thumb rule. Equally, other stake-holders, including the general public are also to participate. Our towns/ cities have thick population. We must observe safety rules...

Metro is not the ONLY solution but it is one of the better ones. There are many other options available now than they were say 50 years ago. 1. Use of busses 2. Metro 3. Suburban trains 4. Car pooling 5. Living close to work 6. Working out of...

I agree. The standard practices like making of proper Lifting Plans and Rgging Studies for each non standard Lifts and doing proper risk assessments for such lifts could have avoided the Crane's crash tragedy.

The major projects are undertaken considering the rate of return. The is with the view to recover capital investment as fast as possible.Manly infrastructures, which need periodical maintenance to enhance their life cycle and utility.Take the case of rails/roads,traffic is interrupted whenever maintenance is carried out. The decision makers should therefore consider the long term cost impacts in the construction, maintenance and transportation. The new technology is available fro Road and Railways construction. The initial investment may be little bit more but post construction maintenance expenditure and obstruction in the traffic will get reduced. This will help in saving on revenue and inc...

The entire project is set at Rs.600-800crore. The construction chief is also considering establishing two mixed-use mini-townships on 200 acres each at Thane and Pune. Although, the Pune venture will have a big portion set aside for saleable use, the Thane Township would be largely be a housing one. HCC has already started land purchase for the two ventures. Give impetus to Rural Telecom. By Abraham Paul, MD CEO Future Groups (India), FCOMNET (UAE) In spite of the few hiccups in the beginning, the privatization has pushed Telecom business in India making the services available and affordable to common man. Most of the issues in the beginning were due to inertia of the incumbent provider in changing their old mindset. The main aspect of telecom expansion being that it virtually reduces space making the distance immaterial, the initial decision of making the GSM Wireless Telecom license areas co-terminus with existing telecom circles was one of the major flaws. Over and above disallowing of direct interconnects between different networks of the Service Provider forced them to make multiple investments on one side and loss of revenue to the incumbent operator on the other side. Bringing in the concept of Pan India Telecom with Unified Licensing was a positive step to correct few of these earlier wrong doings. But the present...
