All hackers are not criminals and not all hackers cause damage to every IT system.  After acquiring this knowledge some turn out to be good and some turn out to be bad.  It is the same as a locksmith - he can repair locks or choose to rob houses...

Monitor, Analyze, and Optimize Your Network The Cisco Network Application Performance Analysis (NAPA) solution is a comprehensive set of tools and services that provides information about application and network performance. The Gap Between Applications and the Network Optimizing the performance of business applications yields greater efficiency, productivity, and profitability. However, the increasing sophistication of today's applications and networks often makes it difficult to diagnose and repair problems when they arise. IT managers are faced with critical challenges every day: Is a performance problem related to the network or the application? Is the IT infrastructure meeting the need...

Gartner predicts that SaaS will be driven by opensource in the future. And the prediction is supported by facts and figures. By 2010, 90 percent of software as a service (SaaS) providers will have some open-source component in their technology infrastructure stacks (that is, operating system, application server and database) to reduce software acquisition expenses, according to Gartner, Inc.   User communities are expanding around application-platform-as-a-service providers and will leverage open-source practices for sharing software applications.   As the number of software as a service users increase the opensource support will also grow along with it, definitely. Although most consumer electronics are collections of smaller devices--cell phones typically include cameras and voice recorders, for example--users can't swap out the devices or modify the way they work. Bug Labs , a startup based in New York City, is hoping to change that with its new device, the Bug, scheduled to start shipping late this year. The Bug would allow users to design their own electronics and customize them however they want. CEO Peter Semmelhack explains that the foundation of the device is the Bugbase, a minicomputer running Linux that users can program. It has ports for up to four device modules, which snap in and out of place. Among the first modules the company expects to offer will be a GPS system, a camera, a motion sensor, and an LCD screen. But it also plans to offer new modules...
