By Sam Grobart Your gadgets and computers, your software and sites — they are not working as well as they should. You need to make some tweaks. But the tech industry has given you the impression that making adjustments is difficult and time-consuming. It is not. And so below are 10 things to do to improve your technological life. They are easy and (mostly) free. Altogether, they should take about two hours; one involves calling your cable or phone company, so that figure is elastic. If you do them, those two hours will pay off handsomely in both increased free time and diminished anxiety and frustration. You can do it. GET A SMARTPHONE Why: Because having immediate access to your e-mail, p...

Amazing technology.. . Next it will be all remote controlled.. .. no crew! Britain launches massive sub that can hear a ship from across the Atlantic . She is four years late and a massive 900 million over-budget. But when the Royal Navy's super-sub HMS Astute finally arrived, she made for an awesome sight. More complex than the space shuttle, and able to circumnavigate the globe without surfacing, the 7,400-ton monster is the largest and deadliest hunter-killer submarine ever built. Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall cracked a bottle of beer brewed by the sub's crew on her bow to officially name the 'boat', in Navy jargon, before s he was gingerly wheeled out of her she...

Twenty years ago, mainframes sat in tight glass houses, accessed by a limited list of select employees. Today, mainframes remain a mainstay of enterprise operations. All predictions of the mainframe's imminent demise have disappeared as quickly as those predicting the end of brick-and-mortar retailing. In fact, industry sources estimate that 30 billion Cobol transactions occur daily; that's more than the number of Web page hits in the same time period. In today's enterprise, mainframes have shattered their glass houses and are accessible by a variety of network services. In addition to conventional users of core CICS or IMS-based transactions, large organizations (including many financial s...

Rahul Dravid announced his retirement and suddenly we find a new member in the team. Some people think he should have retired earlier while other say he should have continued playing. But all in all I find his decision of making space for someone new right. We need the 'new' generation to come u and replace old before it is too late. This is not only applicable to the game but everywhere. Yes specially politics. During the recent elections when the elephant was run over by the cycle we all knew its going to be one of them. It rarely makes any difference who it is. In cricket the selector don't want to let go the experienced and in politics the inexperienced do not want to jump in. How often do we find a new bee out of an unknown background coming up for a change. If we ask our-self would we be up to participate in the dirty job? I presume that perhaps the answer is 'NO' My question is how can we convince, teach and encourage the new generation to participate in the process of...

First an interesting fact : Youtube, before it became so famous video sharing platform was actually a dating site! When we post videos on youtube some of them are a bit shaky and give the viewers a hard time. Youtube has found an answer to this and now they can fix it for us. The article I read about this goes something like this : I've never heard of diseases called "shaky-camera-itis" or "augmented-darkness-levels” before, but apparently they affect (and infect ) many YouTube videos. Fortunately the video-hosting service now offers an automated tool which'll easily rid clips of those pesky issues. According to John Gregg, a YouTube software engineer, the feature is part of the YouTube Video Editor tool. It's there to detect shaky or dark videos and it'll automatically offer to fix things for you: When you upload a video that could use a fixup, you’ll see a notification bar on the Upload page and in your Video Manager. Click the button to fix it, and you’ll see a side by side...
