About "Open Architectures: Technology Platforms for a New World" topic:
Open architecture is real and here to stay. Technology companies like Google are now offering open technology platforms and tools that leverage creative resources, resulting in solutions that are broader and more sophisticated than ever before. Organizations can now exercise much greater control over how their technology solutions perform. Discuss on how organizations should use these components and discuss the business models that support them to make their organizations more relevant.

Nearly everything is finding a home on the Internet, and software development is no different. But this trend called platform-as-a-service, or PaaS, could have huge implications. In theory, PaaS makes it far easier for businesses and other enterprises to develop their own applications, instead of licensing or buying the applications from software companies. The change represents a fundamental disruption to how software gets distributed and consumed, says Paul McNamara, chief executive of small PaaS vendor Coghead. The trend marks 'a significant watershed event,' he said. PaaS can be applied to any market, by any company, according to William Blair Co. analyst Laura Lederman. 'The emergence ...

I think open source will win the race. More dependability on open software is observed in the past five years. The reason is also justified.... If one can avail free software to perform his work then why would he go for the expensive one?

I have to say we both agree to disagree. Without opensource where did you get all those cool applications you used to create your internet and your electronic world? Think manufactures like Cisco , Sun and now even Microsoft all missed the boat?...

Many ideas contributed to the success of Open Source and free software. Where does it go from here? There are several other technologies and trends that will truly revolutionize this space in the future. Here are a few ideas that we feel will really pick up in the near future. Developer IDEs will become more professional Developing an open source product? Or, Writing an open source based application ? Why pay for the IDE ? Open source development has traditionally lacked an intuitive IDE and RAD (Rapid Application Development) tool, like MS Visual Studio, which is also open source or free. But then, there are so many programming languages, platforms, frameworks and libraries in the open sou...

Effort gets underway to collect data on the implementation of open-source software around the world The Open Source Census, an effort to pin down hard statistics regarding the implementation of open-source software around the world, gets underway on Wednesday. The census was first announced in December by founder OpenLogic, a vendor of tools and services for managing open-source software deployments. It has provided an automated census tool called OSS Discovery under an open-source license for the project . Companies and individuals can use the tool to scan their computers for open-source software and then anonymously upload the data to the effort's SITE . The information will be available ...

No 1: India Since 1991, when economic liberalization unshackled India from the slow rate of growth and threw its doors open to the global economy, India has never looked back. The Knight Frank report assumes that India will shake off its current crop of social, political and economic issues and go on to the top of the heap.

World IP Day, 26 April: "The Power of Ideas as the seedbed for innovation and creativity" "World Intellectual Property Day is an opportunity to encourage people to think about the role played by intellectual property in everyday life, and about its importance in stimulating and safeguarding innovation and creativity. This year we celebrate the starting point of all intellectual property, the seeds from which all innovations and creative works grow – ideas." WIPO member states decided, in 2000, to designate a World Intellectual Property Day to raise awareness of the role of intellectual property in our daily lives, and to celebrate the contribution made by innovators and artists to the development of societies across the globe. April 26 was chosen as this was the date on which the Convention establishing WIPO entered into force in 1970. Significance of World IP Day To raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact daily life To increase understanding of how...

I reckon the lines said by a sensible person in the past that a person cannot be deceived unless the he himself consents to be decieved. To be a bit more clearer, I quote the mordant tongue of my dear friend Chuck Doherty, “If a man is ready to blow, an aspirant will come even from the banks of Lake Titicaca hiring a cab, to make him blow.” “This country is full of people who are dangerously disciplined”, Doherty once lamented and it was about the people of India. He had always maintained that majority of the people of this country were poor sceptics and if there was a minority who looked like that, they were simply cynics. Although, I never understood initially what he meant, today I see something identical to Doherty's theory. This is all about a part of the media of Tamil Nadu revealing video clippings of alleged sexual escapades of a Godman in company of a second string South Indian female film artist. More interesting than the news itself has been the response put forth by the...
