The earlier you start investing the more time the investment gets. This inturn leads to higher returns and lower the risks. Maintain an investment startegy keep hold to it consistently. Do diversify your investment. Work like a BEE . Bees do scatter themselves in various directions in search of Nectar. On Doing so the Bees combat the risk of not finding any food. Similarly on diversifying your investments our risk of having lower returns gets diluted thus resulting in a profitable outcome. Do Invest...

Incomes that are not taxed! Although the tax man has been vested with the task of collecting taxes on the incomes of the citizens, he has deemed certain kinds of incomes as 'not included in total income'. Thus if any earning that you receive which falls under these incomes you don’t have to treat it as income or pay tax on it! Let’s take a look at the different incomes that are not incomes! Agricultural Income: Any income which you receive as income from any agricultural activity is deemed as not included in total income. If your father is into agriculture and he gives you a part of the income as a gift, then you don’t need to pay tax on it, provided, your father files his tax returns. Inco...

DIVIDENDS!!!!!.. We do have a craze for Dividends, Increments, Rewards and Bonus. But beware, Never Opt a Mutual Fund Scheme for it Dividend declaration Record alone . This is because of the following : - Dividend is a part of a same cake : Say a MF scheme's NAV climbs from Rs 10/- to Rs. 20/- over a period of time. A dividend of Rs 5/- (50%) is declared because of which the NAV of the scheme on the record date drops to Rs. 15/-. Cheap NAV : Dividends are frequently declared by some of the MF to eventually attract retail investors by projecting cheaper NAVs on Post-Dividend stage. Huge Fund Size : MFs with huge fund inflow are scared of the fund size hence decide to chunk out heap of cash o...

taranath joshi  |  Commented  |  2 years ago
Yes, Mr. Shenoy. I fully agree with you. Infact, the NAV gets deducted when the dividend is paid. i.e. If NAV (cum dividend) is 12, and the MF pays 1 Re/unit dividend, the ex-dividend rate will be 11 only. So, thats not a dividend at all....

SIP is a very good opportunity for people who 1. Do not understand the market nuances 2. When to invest and how much 3. Cannot shell out lumpsums 4. Can wait for a period of atleast three years(they should plan for this period)
Padmanabhan R  |  Commented  |  2 years ago

Mutual fund is viewed as one of the perfect investment options available for small investors with little market exposure. They offer risk reduction, diversification, professional management, convenience, liquidity etc. But this doesn’t mean that you need not do your home work. Here are some of the important disadvantages of mutual funds. Diversification dilutes return and there can be over diversification. There are no guaranteed returns. Fund manager may be tempted to show good results in the short term at the expense of long term performance as the manager’s compensation is based on the fund’s performance. Mutual fund portfolios are not tailor made The annual fund operating fee is charged...

Day trading refers to the practice of buying and selling financial instruments within the same trading day such that all positions will usually (not necessarily always) be closed before the market close of the trading day. This is different from After-hours trading. Traders that participate in day trading are called day traders. Some of the more commonly day-traded financial instruments are stocks, stock options, currencies, and a host of futures contracts such as equity index futures, interest rate futures, and commodity futures. Day trading used to be the preserve of financial firms and professional investors and speculators. Many day traders are bank or investment firm employees working as specialists in equity investment and fund management. However, day trading has become increasingly popular among casual traders due to advances in technology, changes in legislation, and the popularity of the internet. First of all let me give you few tips that you must follow if you are going...

The following is a reproduction of from an article I wrote in 2004. 1.  Harnessing the vast human resource in the country shall be the main objective. Most of the unrest and disharmony happening every where, may it be of social, political, various disruptions caused by actions and counter actions of different ethnic groups and communities turning into religious extremism, are due to the shift in the focus of life among the mass especially the village youth, and political are due to desperation fermenting of the prevailing situation that deprive them options and opportunities to grow up and lead a normal life.   To alleviate it, the primary focus shall be on the uplift of the 750 odd million rural population, by providing them basic amenities such as a home to live, clean water, cheap electricity and fuel, primary healthcare, free basic education, effective public distribution system, good roads and other infrastructure, and a minimum assured income from agricultural or trade...

Recovery of its due has been a hectic exercise for the Banks in the absence of a special legislation. ‘Non-performing Assets’ were growing and a need was felt to reduce the ‘Non-performing Assets’ of the Banks drastically. As the recovery through Courts was a difficult exercise for the Banks, initially, a special legislation called ‘The Recovery of Debts due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993’ was enacted creating a Special Tribunal called ‘Debt Recovery Tribunal’. Under the Act, the Banks are entitled to approach the Tribunal by filing an ‘Original Application’ which is similar to filing a suit in Civil Court proceedings. However, unlike the ‘Civil Court’ which is supposed to follow the ‘Civil Procedure Code’, a special and simple procedure has been prescribed under ‘The Recovery of Debts due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993’. At the end of adjudication, the Tribunal is supposed to grant a certificate called ‘Recovery Certificate’ infavour of the Bank...
