I finally find my book, so here are references: www.gerpissa.univ-evry.fr Freyssenet, Mair, Shiizu, Volpato One Best Way? Trajectories and Industrial Models of the World's Automobile Producers , Oxford University Press 1998 Boyer, Charron, Jurgens, Tolliday Between Imitation and Innovation. The transfer and Hybridization of Productive Models in the International Automobile Industry . Oxford University Press 1998 Durand, Stewart, Castillo Teamwork in the Automobile Industry. This is a 'short' summarize of the work of GERPISSA (R D permanent study group of car's industries and workers) studies I was studying a couple of years ago. I will write it in a couple of times, because it is quite long. I red some posts in this site I disagree, so this my answer to some incredible stuff I can not leave alone.^^ A False History There is a common picture for the 20th century industrial history which got stronger in the 90s. To be short: ''Industrial production grew up in three steps''. An almost handcraft step , with numerous products made by specialized workers, working in self organized jobs groups. They were providing a high social class, who was the only one who can aff...

After the short presentation of the growth forms, here is a summarized table. If I am not clear enough, do not hesitate to say so. Competitive and in competition The national income depends on local and category forces , and financial opportunities. The growth source is changing according the the intern and external competition. The market is unstable, divided in groups, with some excluded categories. The work is flexible, organized by category. This leads to : a real fall of prices, but with limitation on the market, because of the uncertainty of the incomes. Contradictions : you must defend your advantages every times, there are speculation troubles. Competitive and consumption The nation...

Hey Sanjit! I do find OEE a good way to measure quality of process, efficiency of equipment and utilization in one figure which sums up everything you want to achieve in running highly automated equipment.

I would like to thanks all the people who were concerned about my disappearing. Believe it or not, i was hit by a car...I am getting better now. The quality strategy may look like old, but each time the gap between rich and poor is growing, a rebirth can occur. With time, these luxury products became more affordable for more people, sometimes because of a mix with another profit strategy. The diversity and flexibility strategy This is generally what we called the handcraft strategy. That was the strategy chosen by the firsts american manufacturers and the english producer before they got together to form British Leyland. This strategy is working for either the whole product or just a partic...

Free Style Marketing How many times have you been to a business conference that guided the world to sell things for free? Well, if you never heard about one, then you need to know about Nokia World 2007 Conference where Chris Anderson, Editor in Chief talks to the world referring to this. The campaign broke all the traditional rules of selling a service product. As per Chris, the new way to sell today has changed focus from the actual product to the complementary product or supporting product that could enhance the selling of original product. Chris talks about the new selling concept of 0 + 2 = 2 in contrary to the old concept of 1+1 = 2. Now, what the hell does he mean by this Maths..? Consider Company A that sells both - the products and the services on the same products. As per the traditional earning model Company A earned Rs 1 revenue from selling the product and Rs 1 revenue from the services on the product. The modern way of selling sacrifices the revenue on product to earn...

Saying no is perhaps the most important productivity tool that exists. Saying no is an art. It is also perhaps the most difficult thing to do for most people. I used to dread the occasions where I knew I will have to say no and I used to prepare for such situations for days. Now, I almost look forward to saying no to people and I actually enjoy the process! Find out how the change happened. 1. You are doing everyone a favour by saying no. Whenever you are saying NO to someone, remember that it is for their benefit! By saying no, you are • Giving the person an opportunity to look for someone who can do the job better. • Avoiding negative feelings about the person. 2. Visualize the alternative (to saying no) in vivid detail. • You will feel bad and will curse yourself for accepting the task. • You will do a bad job. • You will hate the person for putting this on to you. • The person will hate you for doing a bad job. • You should not have said yes, if you were not going to do a good...

Watching TV causes Obesity, Diabetes and Sleeplessness Watching TV is an ideal way to pass time --- it is enjoyable and does not require any effort. Most children plug into the world of television long before they enter school. In India, children between four and 14 years form the largest segment of viewers (23 percent) followed by 15-25 years olds (22 per cent) and 25-35 years old (20 per cent). Mindless eating? Blame the TV! Studies done by the Stanford University of Medicine, California, show that TV viewing is directly linked with mindless eating . When children watch TV, they snack more often on junk food – popcorn, chips, ice cream, colas and biscuits – that are high in salt and calories and low in fibre. At the same time, it keeps children indoors and is largely responsible for the lack of physical activity. T V viewing could lead to obesity because children tend to eat more when glued to the small screen. Diabetes? Blame the TV Studies done on women suggest that sedentary...

Most IT project evaluations are like the tail wagging the dog. They begin with IT strategy, rather than the goals of the business. In fact, IT strategy should be the third link in a chain that begins with business strategy, which in turn governs the product or service strategy, which then drives IT strategy. Lets understand this with a mid size CRM company Business strategy: Increase the customer base by 20 percent in the next year by providing increased functionality such as business operations analytics and executive dashboards. Product strategy: Develop an alliance with a business intelligence (BI) software company to add analytical capabilities to the CRM software. IT strategy: Create a new software platform that allows for easy integration with the BI software company and others. IT projects: Develop a Web services–based platform that offers universal data exchange and messaging between the CRM software and the BI software. While this hierarchy reveals whether IT projects...
