In India nearly 30% of the deaths occur due to Cardiac Disease (Heart Problems) When there is a block in the arteries, doctors advise "Stent" which is called Angioplasty which cost anything between Rs.35,000-75,000. The raw material cost is less...

Ratnakar Naik  |  Argues in support of  "Affordable Healthcare"  |  2 years ago

This further to Bindu;s argument which I support. Subsidizing the medicine will not help much as they are not available in most of places especially remote areas. The government should implement a strict policy in this regard where substituting...

Bindu Narayan  |  Argues in support of  "Control the Price"  |  2 years ago

Fortis Healthcare, India’s second-largest healthcare service provider, plans to come up with a new model of healthcare delivery for tier-II and-III towns. It intends to set up smaller hospitals with a capacity for up to 200 beds, which will provide treatment at nearly 50% less cost than in the present facilities. To ensure viability of the model, Fortis is also looking at halving the investment per bed for such hospitals. For starters, the company will set up two such facilities, one each in the North and the West, by 2011-12 “There’s a huge need to develop quality hospitals for the masses in the hinterland. In fact, India can accommodate hundreds of such hospitals. We have been working on ...

Dayanand Deshpande  |  Commented  |  2 years ago
I believe that this is a good move to extend the health care facilities to tier II & III cities rather than concentrating on the metros. If Fortis can provide the same treatment like in their metro hospitals, at a cheaper cost, than it will be...

One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” “It was great, Dad.” “Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked. “Oh yeah,” said the son. “So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father. The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls...

It usually takes us much longer to change our moods than we’d like it to take. Here are ten things you can do in ten minutes or less that will have a positive emotional effect on you and those you love. 1. Watch "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch. See it online at Oprah.com. This is a deeply moving segment that may be the best ten minutes you've ever invested in front of a computer. 2. Spend a little while watching the sunset with your mate. Nothing extra is necessary. Just sit and take in the natural beauty of the sky and appreciate being able to share it with the one you love. 3. Sit quietly by yourself. It doesn't really matter where or when. Just let your feelings bubble up and then experience the thoughts flowing out of your mind. Clearing your head and heart will give you extra energy to get through the rest of the day. 4. Write a thank you note to your mate. When was the last time you thanked your partner for just being who he or she is and being with you? Doing this in...
