About "Reinvention of the Drug Industry and Their Implications for Future Dealmaking" topic:
The pharmaceutical industry has always influenced and interacted with the biotech industry. Until recently, this interaction was characterized by low value fee for service collaborations in the early drug discovery sector and higher value alliances in the late stage product phase. But today, pharma has come under increasing regulatory compliance and pricing pressure. Decreasing R&D productivity as well as new paradigms in Personalized Medicine are additional challenges. This has forced pharma to rethink transactions with biotech companies. So share your thoughts on this.....

i support against this idea, there is no way that Hospitals can manufacture drugs, it is a total different entity where so much R D is involved, so leave hospitals out of this and let pharmaceutical companies do what they do best.....

Well people here are a few things that initiate the development of a new drug. This I have learned from my experience in the pharmaceutical industry over the years. New drugs begin in the laboratory with chemists, scientists and pharmacologists who identify cellular and genetic factors that play a role in specific diseases. They search for chemical and biological substances that target these biological markers and are likely to have drug-like effects. Out of every 5,000 new compounds identified during the discovery process, only five are considered safe for testing in human volunteers after preclinical evaluations. After three to six years of further clinical testing in patients, only one o...

Whenever a new drug or medical device comes on the market, the process leading up to FDA approval has been costly and time-consuming. Biotech companies spend many years working in their laboratories to develop new drugs to ready them for testing. Companies that can’t afford their own study staffs are increasingly turning to contract research organizations (CROs) to do the testing. Launched by entrepreneurs, an army of CROs is taking on the daunting task of testing for pharmaceutical companies without the time and resources to perform their own. In a few cases, these contract firms which have emerged over the past twenty years have not been up to the rigorous task of controlled clinical trial...

Indian phrmaceutical companies are on the boom and enjoying high degree of profitability, the reason being that Indian consumers are being more and more health concious. The drugs manufactured by Indian Pharmaceuticals vary greatly in cost and composition. But the issue that I am here going to discuss with you is about the producton of low cost generic drugs . Generic Drugs as we all know are the drugs which are produced and distributed without patent protection, and you all must be aware that India is still allowed to make generic drugs after severe seminal challeneges to patent laws filed by the leading Swiss Drug Company Novartis , arguing that it will discourage investments in innovatio...
