You cannot – repeat: cannot – underestimate the importance of your resume. This is your first impression. This is your chance to capture your potential employer’s attention, to pique his or her interest. This is your ticket into the job of your choice. It does not matter what job you are applying for – whether you want to work the drive-thru at Burger King or apply for an entry level position at a sales office, you have got to have a good one. Otherwise, you are not even going to get your foot in the door.

First of all, let’s discuss what your resume is so important, what it is supposed to do, et cetera. In fact, resume writing is an act of self promotion. You have to show your prospective employer that you are unequivocally right for the job.

Not only that, but you have to outline your experiences and your accomplishments – otherwise, how will he or she know that you are truly qualified for the job? Furthermore, the document also serves as an example concerning how well you can communicate and how good you are at organization.

How to spot a fake resume Here are somethings you need to look for to ensure that you are not being hoodwinked into recruiting someone with fake credentials. The information that is most often faked are the following: 1. Skills 2. Work details/Projects 3. Salary details 4. Employment records 5. Educaton records There are reasonably easy ways to get to the truth, though they are not completely foolproof. Skills The fake resume exponent knows that companies search for candidates on job sites using keywords. They also know that to end up in the top 2 - 3 pages, they need to match as many keywords as possible. So in their resume, they add all skills that are commonly searched for by companies, whether they possess the skill or not. The way to defeat this is to ask all candidates to send in their updated profiles with the following details for each of their skills Have you just heard about it, or have you undergone training, or do you have hands-on experience? If you have undergone...

There are many messages which make rounds for years via various network and still have 0 % truth in them. Few of the facts which need to be circulated are : 1 . This message is for all those who have been posting on their walls and in all the communities , sending via sms and mailing that 1098 picks up wasted food. THEY DO NOT! http://www.childlineindia.org. in/ You can see they themselves have denied this on their official website. Please spread this message and check out the website to know the other ways through which you can help. 2. If writing on Rupee note was going to be such a huge issue that it will cost Rs 2638 Cr loss per year to Indian Govt than the Govt would have issued this in public interest in all the newspapers and it would have been on tv, radio everywhere..But you will find this only on fb and sms.. Stay away from fake updates use your common sense. 3.Mr Prakash Bajaj is NOT the editor of TOI! He wrote a letter and there are so many points raised which are...

HI The most stressful part of job interview is to get stuck in those questions which are generic in nature but nevertheless difficult to answer. Here is a few answers to those questions, that should help you. 01 Tell us about yourself? For a long time, I would go around talking about my place of birth, education and work experience etc etc. Then I realised how silly it sounds. Interviewers want to know the candidates skillsets, strengths and achievements in the past and how these are related to the requirement of job. For example: “I am really passionate about my work. Whatever I do I do it with full of my dedication, determination and devotion. I am working in insurance sales for last two years and that has given me a lot confidence and taught me the importance of time management and goal setting. I have been consistently achieving my targets for the last 3 quarters. I also have organized and been part of various road shows and counseling activity for lead generation”. To read...

"Ashok, a fresh computer graduate from a world- class University, goes for an interview in a Software company. The interviewer is Sunder, a grubby old man. And the first question he asks Ashok is, ‘Are you good at logic?’ ‘Of course,’ replies Ashok. ‘Let me test you,’ replies Sunder. ‘Two men come down a chimney. One comes with a clean face and the other comes out with a dirty face. Which one would wash his face?’ Ashok stares at Sunder. ‘Is that a test in Logic?’ Sunder nods. ‘The one with the dirty face washes his face’, Ashok answers wearily. ‘Wrong. The one with the clean face washes his face. Examine the simple logic. The one with the dirty face looks at the one with the clean face and thinks his face is clean. The one with the clean face looks at the one with the dirty face and thinks his face is dirty. So, the one with the clean face washes his face.’ ‘Hmm. I never thought of that," says Ashok. ‘Give me another test.’ Sunder holds up two fingers, ‘Two men come down a...
