There are more than 60 accredited hospitals in india either by JCI or NABH and if we add hospitals accredited by ISO then the number would be above 1000.  Accredition have never helped indian patients to choose a healthcare service provider as it never clearly indicates what benefits the patient is going to get from such accredited institutions. There are no clear demarcation for differentiating hospitals with their collective performance as one set up may be for secondary, tertiary or quaternary care. Patients are either referred to one hospital by general physicians or person in whom they have faith or they choose independently by their past experience. Few of the indicators I hope may he...

Do you think Government should withdraw the autonomous status provided to MCI in the current scenario through the act of parliament? When there are instances that most of the government aided and owned Medical colleges are under fear for nonrecognition by a government body(MCI) and simultaneously the newly started ventures are getting approval to impart medical education. I feel this is a high time for the government to establish a more transparent and faithful system which not only promotes the medical education programme but also creates positive and healthy growth of healthcare education medical profession in india.

Software has become easier to customize in the past decade, but hardware, for the most part, remains closed: Apple's battle to keep people from hacking the iPhone is a case in point. Although most consumer electronics are collections of smaller devices--cell phones typically include cameras and voice recorders, for example--users can't swap out the devices or modify the way they work. Bug Labs , a startup based in New York City, is hoping to change that with its new device, the Bug, scheduled to start shipping late this year. The Bug would allow users to design their own electronics and customize them however they want. CEO Peter Semmelhack explains that the foundation of the device is the Bugbase, a minicomputer running Linux that users can program. It has ports for up to four device modules, which snap in and out of place. Among the first modules the company expects to offer will be a GPS system, a camera, a motion sensor, and an LCD screen. But it also plans to offer new modules...
