About "Site Investigation Methods and Practices" topic:
Since the time of the earliest structured buildings man will have been concerned about the nature of the ground on which he placed his structure. And now in all civil engineering works, the most crucial is the reliability of the information
about the ground on which the civil engineering project will be founded. There are various methods of obtaining SI information, in this topic we will concentrate on most widely used method, like boring and drilling and the merits and demerits of site investigation.

i do agree as the site investigation(in other words soil exploration) helps us to know the underground water level which leads to decide the type of dewatering system to be followed and the cost also. Some clients would like to go basement...

In the reference of geo technical investigation ,i will say for designing the foundation of any structure bearing capacity is very important factor for this PLT and SPT tests are most important for shallow foundations.

Selection of suitable site for cross drainage works The factors which affect the selection of suitable type of cross drainage works are : Relative bed levels and water levels of canal and drainage Size of the canal and drainage. The following considerations are important When the bed level of the canal is much above the HFL of the drainage, an aqueduct is the obvious choice. When the bed level of the drain is well above FSL of canal, super passage is provided. The necessary headway between the canal bed level and the drainage HFL can be increased by shifting the crossing to the downstream of drain age. If, however, it is not possible to change the canal alignment, a siphon aqueduct may be p...

Facebook will have market value of $234 billion by 2015, up from its current valuation of $85 billion, according to an analysis by brokerage firm Wedbush Securities that analyzes the valuations of private companies. Wedbush Securities analyst Lou Kerner, who made this guess in a report last week on the what he called the 'Second Internet', says by 2015 Facebook will earn $11 billion on $22 billion and have a market value of $234 billion, Business Insider said Thursday. "That makes the company's recent second market valuation of $85 billion look like a fine deal indeed,'' the business web site said. In his earlier predictions in February 2010, Kerner had said that Facebook might be worth $100 billion by 2015. But he now thinks Facebook's margins are better - around 50 percent - and that it will get a bigger share of the global ad market, according to the portal. The analyst also believes "that other revenue sources - like Credits - will scale faster than he originally anticipated.''...

In world of financial engineering , I have this information to share with you . Well the financial risks could be averted by adopting these measures . Have a look at these measures and you will know ..... The concept of livelihood insurance, where contracts will protect individuals from long-term economic risks such as the loss of a paycheck or the depreciation of one's home value. The concept of what he terms "macro markets" - where individuals, corporations, and governments alike can trade or hedge risks associated with the fluctuations in GDP or national incomes. The concept of income-linked loans - where lenders will make loans to governments, corporations or individuals whose repayment terms are tied to the incomes of these entities. Such repayment terms could be a certain percentage of one's income, which would cause the outstanding balance to decline if income levels decline. This would reduce the change of bankruptcies but will also alleviate our fears of taking more risks...
