About "Skill Gap - A Major Concern For All" topic:

There are countless stories of how leading Indian companies are visiting engineering colleges in interior areas to add to their basket of employable graduates but are returning empty-handed.

Now, look at a couple of rungs lower in the job market pyramid. India's  vocational training institutes are producing 6 million students every year. That's a minuscule number considering that an estimated 88.5 million people in the 15-29 age group need such training. And industry says less than half of the six million people who have received vocational training are in the employable category.

Lets discuss more on this...

Training is always an investment untill and unless it is invested on right person and on necessary things where improvement is mendatory to achieve  desired behaviour and better returns

It all boils down to what is the major GAP that had spurred this Training spell. If the gap is due to Non KSA issues, Training is useless. Though I am  a Trainer, let me confess that Training is not a panacea for all ills of an organization, as...

The skill gap leads to produce inferior products which leads to the loss to the organisation and to the customer.

Due to skill gap not only less production, time consuming less quality products etc., totally it affects the growth of the organisation which leads to the loss for both the customer and the organisation.

Despite the strong foundation, there are growing concerns about the existing available talent pool being unsuitable for employment due to a skill gap. For the industry to sustain the present trajectory of growth there is a dire need for the industry—technical institutions convergence to bridge the skill gap between the available talent and knowledge pool and its employability. The quality of higher and technical education has a direct impact on the industrial development and hence socio-economic advancement of the country. In the face of international competitiveness, the industry expects the new workforce to have skills that would keep them abreast with the latest developments. In this sit...

This is a pet peeve of mine and of many others, to be sure. The problem: And what a problem it is. Educators are supposed to prepare young people for the industry yet most educators have very little first-hand knowledge of what is required by industry . As a result, the learning curve for most freshers is very steep. The frustrations involved on both sides - for freshers and the organization - are myriad. Most of us as freshers have gone through the same shock on learning that there is a world of difference between academics and industry. Most people try to get on with life - if they can afford it - by getting the right certifications or even recommendations which usually enable them to get...

I agree on this that soft skill training is a must for students to meet the industry requirements. Schools & colleges should make it as a part of their curriculum & make it compulsory for all candidates.

Keys to Team Building Success by Susan M. Heathfield Want to make your next team building activity or team building exercise live up to its true potential? Integrate the team building with real-time work goals. Establish a systematic workplace integration and follow-up process - before you go on the team building adventure. You need to make the good feelings and the outcomes from the team building activity last beyond the final team building exercise. Impact of Team Building Events Without this attention to integration, corporate team building or planning events are, at best, a short term boost to employee enthusiasm and positive morale. If they are planned and executed well, people feel good about themselves and about each other. Employees get to know each other better and have a common experience to talk about back at work. A frequent expectation from team building activities is that they build trust. Team building events have little to do with building trust, however, unless...

The prevention of violence and harassment at work represents a challenge for many organisations, but it is relatively easy to take some first steps towards effective prevention, and a growing number of enterprises are introducing measures to deal with these psychosocial hazards.               Both employers and employees should be aware of the risk factors associated with workplace violence and harassment, and organisations must have prevention measures in place to control these risks, including policies and procedures, emergency and post-incident action plans, etc. Below you can find some simple steps that organisations can take to start to improve the prevention of these hazards. 1. Increase awareness about psychosocial hazards           * Provide information on how to recognise harassment, risk factors for violence, what are their effects, how to get additional information, etc.     2. Encourage an appropriate management style and organisational culture           * Foster...
