About "Smoking" topic:
Smoking is one of the most common forms of recreational drug use. Tobacco smoking
is today by far the most popular form of smoking and is practiced by
over one billion people in the majority of all human societies. Less
common drugs for smoking include cannabis and opium. Some of the substances are classified as hard narcotics, like heroin and crack cocaine, but the use of these is very limited as they are often not commercially available.

The harmful health effects of smoking cigarettes presented in the list
below only begin to convey the long term side effects of smoking.
Quitting makes sense for many reasons but simply put: smoking is bad
for health.

Quit smoking and get a 10 per cent hike in basic pay! That is the offer made by the head of a firm to coax his colleagues to quit smoking in 2010. “The idea is to ensure that employees adopt a healthy lifestyle,” says A C Ramesh, CEO, Focus Engineering Services, near Brigade Road. Ramesh has been a smoker for 25 years and plans to quit the bad habit. Focus has close to 40 employees and its clients include the Confident Group, Embassy Group and ISRO. Babies whose parents smoke 'have a doubled risk' Parents who smoke increase the risk of their babies contracting life-threatening bacterial meningitis, say researchers at Edinburgh University. The study, carried out in Greece, found that cigarette smoke helps the bacteria adhere to the tissues lining the throat. The more smoke the babies were exposed to, the more bacteria they harboured. Dr Caroline Blackwell, one of the study team from the university's department of medical microbiology, said the discovery also had implications for research into cot death and chest infections among babies. Poverty link Dr Blackwell and her team carried out a study of more than 250 babies in Greece and found...

Stop Smoking. It is so simple :-) Once I too was a heavy smoker (around 4 to 5 packs a day), but haven't lit up for the last 3 years because I follow these simple steps given below. Anyone who wants to quit smoking can also follow any or all these steps. The Practical Guide to help quit smoking:- IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER 1. DO NOT QUIT SMOKING because of your family or any other reason. Remember, you quit smoking for yourselves (be very selfish in this). You quit for your good health and other benefits. DO NOT have even the slightest inkling that you are quitting for the sake of your wife or your children or your parents or any other reason. Because, if you quit for their sake, you ma...

For avoiding the second hand smoking people should oppose smoking in public places. In addition to this govt must provide smoking zones as they provide toilet facilities at place to place .
