About "Terrorism in India: Where the problem lies?" topic:

After the 9/11 attacks on the world trade center the world's outlook towards the terrorist and terrorist organization has changed the laws have become much more stringent to curb such activities. The Indian outlook also changed specially after the 13 December attack on the Indian parliament which is seen as a symbol of our democracy then it became necessary to enforce a law which would be more stringent so that the terrorist can not go Scot free because after the lapse of TADA in 1995 following the wide spread complaint that it was being abused there was no law which could be used as a weapon against the rising terrorist activities in India.

The question to the elite members of this platform in this topic is: Terrorism in India: Where the problem lies? Please participate....

India's foreign minister has denied charges by a Pakistani army official that his country has been assisting militants in South Waziristan. SM Krishna said developments in Pakistan were of 'their own making' and there was no effective government. A Pakistani army spokesman said recently that it had evidence of Indian 'involvement' with the insurgents. Pakistan's army is engaged in a major offensive against al-Qaeda and the Taliban in South Waziristan. Pakistani's chief military spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas said recently that Pakistani troops had recovered 'Indian arms, ammunition, literature and medical equipment' from Sherwangi, a key militant base. Interior Minister Rehman Malik had also...

India can never do this kind of cowardly activity. If we have to strike them, we will get into their homes in broad daylight and will strike. Not terrorise. Its Pakistani policy to get their logo of "Terrorist Nation" off their face.

No religion preaches terrorism, or even hatred....however, the interpretation of the same - told in a manner that directs action to satisfy the objectives of a set few - is exactly what gives rise to terrorism.

Anti-Terrorism laws need a slight tweaking.Ther should no trials, no courts and a single judgement - Death sentence with a bullet. Result - Faster disposal of cases, fair judgement and of course lot savings of taxpayers' money.

Yes it needs a revamp badly,  like in the UK, the Terrorism Act 2006, which was enacted after the July 7 2005 London bombings, allows detention for 28 days of any suspect without any charges. This will help prevent terrorism in a broader way..

Hezbollah Behind Israel Blasts? The February 13  terror attack  on an Israeli embassy car in New Delhi has set off alarm bells for the Indian security establishment. Its circumstantial pattern suggests that the Iran-Israel conflict has had a significant spillover to India for the first time. After all, the New Delhi attack coincided with a much bolder attack in Georgia the same day, and a grenade attack in Thailand on Tuesday. The Indian government, however, isn’t in the mood for any knee-jerk reaction, and has yet to point the finger of blame. The most probable perpetrator, and one Israeli officials have suggested, is the Iranian-backed militant outfit Hezbollah, though India can’t rule ou...

India to Ban Ammonium Nitrate? The Indian government seems to be waking up from its long slumber on a key security issue. The ruling United Progressive Alliance looks like it is finally moving to ban ammonium nitrate, a readily available bomb-making ingredient that terrorists have been using for at least a dozen years. The Home Affairs Ministry has launched an inter-ministerial consultation process aimed at banning the open sale of a chemical that is increasingly being used by homegrown terror outfits, and which was the main explosive ingredient used to detonate the three bombs in Mumbai  last week  that claimed at least 21 lives and injured dozens more.  The ministry has prepared a list of...

A powerful bomb ripped apart a passenger train late Sunday in India's restive northeastern state of Assam. Though no militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. The explosion took place when the Guwahati-Puri Express was nearing Ghograpara in western Assam's Nalbari distict, about 70 km from Assam's main city of Guwahati. The blast took place around 8.30 pm. Four coaches of the train were derailed leaving many passengers seriously injured . There was a loud explosion and it was total chaos soon after. The critically injured were shifted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, all incoming and outgoing trains to Assam have been suspended following the blast. Fir...

Floods deluge Pak With Strategic Problems   The Zardari government's inefficient handling of the floods is reminiscent of the General Yahya Khan government's thoroughly inept rescue and relief operations in the wake of the devastating Bhola cyclone in East Pakistan in 1970 that sowed the seeds of Pakistan's dismemberment, argues  Rajeev Sharma.   Pakistan's worst-ever floods may drown President Asif Ali Zardari himself. He is increasingly being seen as the modern time's Nero. He chose to be abroad when floods deluged large parts of his country, displacing over 20 million people, much more than the 2004 Asian tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti quake all put together. The Zardari government's inefficient handling of the floods is reminiscent of the General Yahya Khan government's thoroughly inept rescue and relief operations in the wake of the devastating Bhola cyclone in East Pakistan on November 12, 1970 that sowed the seeds of Pakistan's dismemberment....

Security experts have discovered the biggest series of cyber attacks to date, involving the infiltration of the networks of 72 organizations including the United Nations, governments and companies around the world. The long list of victims in the five-year campaign include the governments of the United States, Taiwan, India, South Korea, Vietnam and Canada; the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN); the International Olympic Committee (IOC); the World Anti-Doping Agency; and an array of companies, from defense contractors to high-tech enterprises. "What is happening to all this data ... is still largely an open question. However, if even a fraction of it is used to build better competing products or beat a competitor at a key negotiation (due to having stolen the other team's playbook), the loss represents a massive economic threat." Jim Lewis, a cyber expert with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, was briefed on the discovery by McAfee. He said it was...

I found this while I was checking a friends blog and accidently bumped in to this..   Molestation is an ugly word. But still everyone needs to know what it is. Touching and exploiting someone sexually is molestation. A child should always be explained what is the difference between good and bad touch. Along with this if a child complains about a bad touch it should be taken seriously and a steps should be taken against this. Today I am saying this because I was a victim. A victim of child abuse, a victim of adolescent molestation and it continues. But I can proudly say that I had all the strength to fight this as an adolescent.  When I was a child I went to see a doctor , a skin specialist for something which had happened on my face. I realised that the behaviour of the doctor was weird and I was at first scared. Then I told my parents and they made me feel it was ok and they just did not complain about this anywhere. The only solution they came to was : not to take me to that...
