About "The concept of an artificial life? " topic:

Scientists recently announced a bold step in the enduring quest to create artificial life by producing a living cell powered by man-made DNA. While such work can evoke images of Frankenstein-like scientific tinkering, it also is exciting hopes that it could eventually lead to new fuels, better ways to clean polluted water, faster vaccine production and more.

But what are the legalities of this concept, there are time and again question raised whether cloning should be allowed where embryos which are form of a life is used in these experiments are killed...which has come to a strong objection by many ethicists all over the world, but then scientists say that there are huge advantages if cloning is given a complete go all over the world....but many believe Scientists are trying to play god and are going against nature..

I'm agree with you Bindu... It is good that scientist researching so many things and we had proud our scientist. But I want to say here that nature has it's own rules and we don't have rites to break that rules other wise nature will show the result.

Harmony, that's the word which is key to our future. What we have to know is not the Concept of Artificial life, the Purpose which can make it harmful or beneficial. If not for our efforts to understand the processes of nature, we could have been...

I don't agree with the conception of artificial life. It would be disastrous for the world,if people born never die! because of the concept of artificial life.Already the world is facing the problem of overpopulation which has led to...

This discovery will change everything. Thanks to this discovery we can now compare us with GOD. Its our approach to become perfect and I don't think  its unethical use can surpass the benefits we are going to reap in the future. Few laws, a...

While creating new life scientists are not playing God rather they are creating a revolutionary implication for how to see life. These people are ecstatic about what they are doing, since they provide one of the clear alternatives to burning oil...

1 Defective genes
Sovan Maiti  |  Added idea  "Defective genes"  |  2 years ago
It is estimated that an average person has 8 defective genes inside him. People with defective genes will develop sick in spite of their keeping good health otherwise. With Human Cloning Technology it is possible to have genes without any defects.

I dont think we can. Because we dont even know what is life from the perspective of science. Building life from basic molecules is way beyond impossible. Our current approaches such as genetic engineering are crude unreliable. I think our human...

If you are concerned  with life than answer is yes as we produce plants from a single genetically modified cell.Plants also make a full life cycle. Similarly if embryogenic stem cells are treated properly any animal can be produced too from its...

I think it is possible to create artificial life by genetic engineering. Scientists have manipulated so many genes till now that they can compile them to make artificial life. wat do you think am i right

Rather than taking moralistic or ethical stance on this issue, why does one not recognize the fact that science is all about inquisitiveness, invention and discovery. If life can be created by this, so be it. Kudos to the ones who dare to dream...

No, I am not agree with the concept as all lives are behaving differently with other natural sources and may be it will not possible to make it work always as faster vaccination, new fuels or to clean polluted water.  Only nature or god can...

World's 1st artificial kidney device by an Indian   A US based Indian-origin researcher has created the world's first artificial implantable kidney. If this passes human trials, it could eliminate the need for kidney dialysis and even a transplant. The world's first artificial kidney that can mimic almost all vital kindey functions has been created. Indian origin researcher who is making the headlines - Shuvo Roy and his team at the University of California in the US have made what could be the first bio-implantable device, to replace dialysis and even kidney transplantation. The new kidney device protoype is made up two parts. First is made up of silicon chips that can filter toxins out of...

Grown in the lab: Artificial implants (Cornea) that restore sight in partially blind patients Here is a good news: Button-shaped artificial corneas have restored the sight in men and women in danger of going blind. The man-made corneas were just as good at improving eyesight as those usually obtained from donors. In time, the transparent implants could help ease the dire shortage of donated corneas.   Worldwide, 1.5million people go blind each year because they cannot have corneal transplants. Damage to the cornea, the collagen-based transparent outermost layer of the eye, is one of the most common causes of blindness. It affects ten million people around the world and can be caused by genetics, surgery, burns, infection or chemotherapy. Previous attempts to develop synthetic implants have had limited success. To create an implant that is as close as the real thing as possible, the North American and Swedish researchers grew a synthetic form of human collagen in the lab and moulded...

It usually takes us much longer to change our moods than we’d like it to take. Here are ten things you can do in ten minutes or less that will have a positive emotional effect on you and those you love. 1. Watch "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch. See it online at Oprah.com. This is a deeply moving segment that may be the best ten minutes you've ever invested in front of a computer. 2. Spend a little while watching the sunset with your mate. Nothing extra is necessary. Just sit and take in the natural beauty of the sky and appreciate being able to share it with the one you love. 3. Sit quietly by yourself. It doesn't really matter where or when. Just let your feelings bubble up and then experience the thoughts flowing out of your mind. Clearing your head and heart will give you extra energy to get through the rest of the day. 4. Write a thank you note to your mate. When was the last time you thanked your partner for just being who he or she is and being with you? Doing this in...

What is stopping you from getting what you want in life? Your friends? Your family? A sense that failure – or success – might change your life and that feeling uncomfortable? A sense that the people around you might disapprove of you aiming for what you want, of you succeeding or failing. Essentially it boils down to fear. The big roadblock, sometimes the massive wall in the middle of road that keeps you from getting what you want. How to overcome it? Here´s some useful ways I have found so far. 1. Taking small steps This is good for fear that can seem overwhelming at first. For instance the strong feeling – it can almost feel like a flight or fight-response – just before doing public speaking or asking someone out for a date. If you´re for instance nervous socially you might not feel able to ask people out on dates right away. The fear of being rejected and that others might think less of you if you get turned down can make many of us feel unable to ask the question. A solution...
