About "The perilous process of naming brands, products, and companies" topic:

Naming may be the most fascinating aspect of branding. A little brainstorming, a list of irresistible names, a delighted client. Naming is in fact one of the hardest jobs you'll ever do, instructions for conceiving, filtering, and vetting a suitable name, taking into consideration language, design, and legalities plus the subjective whims of the client when you finally present that shortlist of sweated-over contenders, along with other successes and failures and notes the things a name can and can't do for a brand. What do you think on this.

This just goes to show the pathetic state of ecucated people in a business city or district like Gujarat!! It isnt funny to me at all, its just a classic case of being a fool and letting everybody make a mockery of the same. I am ashamed!!

Nice notices...Its true, sometimes, half sentences gives a completely different meaning. So we should be very careful while using sentences...

Here's a good laugh to start your day.... The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson, died and went to heaven. At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur. 'Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven.' Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, ' I want to hang out with God.' St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God. God recognized Arthur and commented, 'Okay, so you were the one who invented the Harley-Davidson motorcycle? ' Arthur said, 'Yeah, that's me...' God commented: 'Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unst...

hahahaha.... Good one.. More men are riding the invention of God (i.e. WOMAN) as they cannot calculate the maintenance cost at one go as compared to that of Arthur's invention (i.e. Harley-Davidson motorcycle)..

Hello Charles, Regarding Brain Wash Indian Politicians - We should have our own policy regarding our neighbor. We should not depend on USA regarding these matters. Hope you will agree on this.  K Rajagopalan.

Well agreed, but what Indian government should do if there is another 26/11 ? , I don’t think dialogue is only the solution sometime stringent action is also required.

What's there in the name? Who knew what 'Nirma' means? Was there anything in 'Hello'? What 'Divya' has to do with men's under garments? Why people ate away 'Haldiram'? 'Ruchi' means choice but its an edible product. 'Cherry' is edible name but...

It may look little modern, but it should be easily prnouncable. lenghthy names r not advisable. Names should target the required segment.

The famous Shakespearean quote may be apt to the flora of the world but when it comes to Branding, names are everything. According to Shakespeare’s Juliet , “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” That may be true, but would you name your kid Skunk ? I didn’t think so. That’s because we associate things with names - thoughts, emotions, even the memory of how a skunk smells. For better or worse, language is the primary form of human communication. When we shop for things, we don’t point at them and grunt. We search by name. I know what you’re thinking. Naming is a waste of money. Customers and investors could care less. Sometimes that’s true, but believe it or not, oftentimes there’s actually strategy involved, branding strategy .  Decisions, Decisions There are brands and sub-brands, corporate brands...
