A little compilation of quotes: It may be long before the law of love will be recognized in international affairs. The machineries of government stand between and hide the hearts of one people from those of another . Your character must be above suspicion, and you must be truthful and self-controlled. The truest test of civilization, culture, and dignity is character, not clothing. Men of stainless character will easily inspire confidence and automatically purify the atmosphere around them. The real property that a parent can transmit to all equally is his or her character and educational facilities. All your scholarship would be in vain if at the same time you do not build your chara...

The "law of love" is not recognized in international affairs, in government, politics, business...much less in our daily lives, between fellow citizens, neighbors, friends, relatives...or even with our own so-called "loved ones". If I cannot be...

Wow !!! great quotes by a great man ......... & now some more are being added by Munnabhai. It's sad that we need a reason to remind Mahatma Gandhi. Kudos to Munnabhai for that. I wonder how the Mahatma would have reacted to the term - Gandhigiri....

Hi Kuldeep, interesting insight. What you said is true. But we all are human being and we all have some expectation. So friendship is one way through which they fulfill their self-interest. Thanks :)

To every theory or fact there are only two different outcomes (TRUE or FALSE) most of the scientific theories are based on these outcome and it is still tough in the modern science to answer various facts. It seems that to understand any scientific fact or theory we need to prove it in the scientific way. So the question remains how to judge all such facts and theory proposed by people. So you can prove anything to be true if it: 1. Is elegant 2. Contains few arbitrary or adjustable elements. 3. Agrees with and explains all existing observations. 4. Relates the past and can make detailed predictions about future. 5. Is backed by very high number of supporting events. Technically truth m...

Definitions Ends: the product of an action Means: the way by which one achieves an end Justify: (This one is not so easy to define off the top of my head so I used the dictionary definition) the moral principle determining just conduct.[1] But what is 'just'? Just: fairness or adherence to established rules Burden of Proof As instigator of this debate, my opponent will retain the primary burden of proof since he did not address it in R1. My responsibility will be to refute my opponent's arguments. Argumentation I am somewhat confused by what my opponent is arguing. The resolution asks is ends can justify means so I would assume as Con he is arguing that they cannot. However throu...

in fact I'm not sure how my expressed acceptance of the given definitions indicates that was my intent. I defined what the equal sign typically represents as a matter of informing my opponent as to how I understand his resolution. Now if there is a better definition that the readers find compelling and better frames the intention of this debate, I am more than willing to change my angle. So far as I can see, however, my opponent, in an effort for clarity has only embraced obscurantism. In my own effort to understand my opponent's intentions, I will list some of the possibilities that I see in both the resolution as stated and my opponent's statements: (1) Interdependent As The Yinyang -- Ob...

Life is very short, so break your ego, forgive quickly, believe slowly, love truly, laugh loudly never avoid anything that makes you smile. When I woke up this morning lying in bed, I was asking myself; What are some of the secrets of success in life? I found the answer right there, in my very room.. Carry a Heart that Never Hates. Carry a Smile that Never Fades. Carry a Touch that Never Hurts .. HAVE A BLESSED WORTHWHILE DAY!

Universal truth Whenever I find the key to success, someone changes the lock. The road to success??.. Is always under construction. Alcohol doesn't solve any problems, but if you think again, neither does Milk. In order to get a Loan, you first need to prove that you don't need it. All the desirable things in life are either illegal, expensive or fattening or married to someone else. Since Light travels faster than Sound, people appear brighter before you hear them speak. Everyone has a scheme of getting rich?.. Which never works. To Error is human, to forgive is not a COMPANY policy. If at first you don't succeed?. Destroy all evidence that you ever tried. You can never determine which sid...

Satyamev Jayate - the motto of Journalism My decision to take Journalism as my career, was based on two things -- first, my hobby of reading and collecting newspaper articles and photographs on different subjects and second, my belief that it is much more than just a profession. After being a regular reader of The Hindu (TH), The Times of India (TOI), Hindustan Times (HT), Deccan Herald (DH) and Navbharat Times (NT) for last 12 years, what I learnt is that media is not only a medium of propaganda, but it actually can create a change in the society. I have come across several such attempts by these esteemed publications during the last decade. The articles written by the Rural Affairs Editor of The Hindu P Sainath on Farmer Suicide's and the 'Lead India' campaign from TOI for choosing the future leaders of our country, are two of the examples. Even, just by bringing truth in the public domain, media has been at the forefront of change in the society. The...

“We are travelers of the path of blooming consciousness. Staying in between beginning and the end of the path, acquiring knowledge of the whole path and the ultimate truth is impossible. Even though, one is able to reach the end –isn’t able to make known us about the whole and the ultimate truth. First time, we go forward– towards any imaginary target, on the path of life, holding different beliefs. Gradually in this way– with increasing experience and knowledge, when we become more conscious, we advance following the way of science and rationality, –supposing all are seeming truth, giving up beliefs –largely, towards the aim of true self-development. In this manner, after passing over much more distance, –with increasing more consciousness, gradually step by step– one time we come near the truth. Then holding the hand of some truths or partly truth, –we advance to the aim of absolute truth. In fact, the entire route is the way of blooming consciousness. We– in our different...

The bitter pills for India reprieve. Part 1. Full article is available in the links http://wp.me/p1ZsI2-5I 1. Introduction: 1.1. The inherent perils of Democracy. Individuality in thoughts and unrelenting desire and self centric ambition to gain superiority over the other and being the basic instincts that differentiate the human race, a political setup that envisages a country be ruled by a government of the people, by the People and for the People, is more an utopian myth than a realizable reality. It is too ambitious to wish that India, a very young federal nation inheriting long embedded ethnic variations, diverse cultures, social structures, linguistic differences, and highly dominating regional beliefs and interests, to become such an utopian democratic nation too soon. This is one of the major perils of our type of democratic process. Nonetheless, it is only fair for every Indian to aspire to have sober and stable governments at federal level that could take...
