In recent years, students’ changing needs and requirements, as well as the needs and requirements of a changing business world, have had a profound effect on Executive MBA (EMBA) program offerings. According to a report in the Oct. 24 issue of BussinessWeek , schools that excelled in the magazine’s most recent biennial EMBA rankings have met the high expectations of students. BusinessWeek rated Pitt’s EMBA program second in the world in the key subject area of ethics. With the help of Cambria Consulting Inc., BusinessWeek surveyed more than 3,400 members of the 2005 graduating classes of 64 EMBA programs in addition to 61 EMBA program directors. Graduates were polled about ranking criteria ...

MBA is necessary for those who don't have any idea about "How to manage"? & for those who want to get experience about the managerial methods theoretically. And to study management is not necessary but to have the managerial skills for any manager...

No, running management is about mindset. Globally, most successful companies are not headed by MBA's at all. Just read this excellent article http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2006/06/the-management-myth/4883/

In today's news, I came across this article that scientists at Sandia National Labs who were seeking a means to create cheap and abundant hydrogen to power a hydrogen economy, realized they could use the same technology to "reverse-combust" CO2 back into fuel. They still have to improve the efficiency of the system, but they recently demonstrated a working prototype of their "Sunshine to Petrol" converting waste CO2 to carbon monoxide, and then syngas, consuming nothing but solar energy. The device, boasting the simple title Counter-Rotating-Ring Receiver Reactor Recuperator (CR5) sets off a thermo-chemical reaction by exposing an iron-rich composite to concentrated solar heat. The composite sheds an oxygen molecule when heated and gets one back as it cools, and therein lies the fuel. The cylindrical metal CR5 is divided into hot and cold chambers. Solar energy heats the hot chamber to a scorching 2,700 degrees, which forces the iron oxide composite to lose oxygen atoms. The...

The other day I was in a restaurant and saw a sign advertising "Sliders Fridays." From what I gathered, they offered a deep discount on tiny hamburgers, called sliders, on Friday nights. The interesting thing about this discovery is that I own the restaurant and it's the first I knew of it. (Stacey's at Waterford:  www.eatatstaceys.com ) I don't just own the restaurant. I also manage it, although I use that term loosely. I've taken the concept of hands-off management to the next level. Most of the time I have no idea what the staff is up to. They organize customer events, execute marketing ideas, hire and fire, change the menu, and pretty much anything else they want. I only get involved if there is a largish expense that needs to be approved. I see the financials daily, by e-mail, but I'm mostly about the bottom line. As a well-known critic of managers, I painted a big red bulls eye on my back when I started managing the restaurant. For the first year I was involved in the details...

In many ways, a manager has to be a leader, so therefore a manager will have many of the traits that a leader does. However, I feel the term 'manager' applies primarily to business, it's in a manager's best interest to lead his co-workers effectively, encouraging them to achieve their goals and targets. In my experience, a leader is more of a social thing; more associated with team work, too. Go to Discussion http://lnkd.in/wUJe5E
