This is a Initiative taken by the UN, and there is a reason why UN has taken this initiative. And the way we design, build, renovate and operate buildings has a big effect on our planet. Buildings account for more than one third of total energy use and its associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, both in developed and developing countries. At the same time, the buildings and construction sector has largest potential for cutting GHG emissions responsible for global warming.

With proven and commercially available technologies, energy consumption in both new and old buildings can be cut by 30-50 per cent without significantly increasing investment costs. However, this potential is not being realized due to the fragmented nature of the sector; lax climate change policy in many countries, and a lack of awareness of baseline performance requirements.

So lets discuss how we can cut Greenhouse gas emission, and how we can create construction structures which consumes less energy and also how we can create & what sort of initiatives is tht we can take to make our future buildings more sustainable........

I think it is due to lack of enforcing agencies and regulations. For majority in this industry , it is a secondary concern which are often overlooked. Some do value it, but that is a small cut of the cake.

Gautam good question, the main reason for this is human negligence. GHG emissions can be grouped into three broad categories like, fuelcombustion, purchased electricity, and non-combustion activities. Fossil fuel combustion is the use offossil...

I am not sure whether this is really happened or not, But I liked it and want to share with all my friend here. Please read once ............ One day Maths teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers. That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual. On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of the comments. No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She...
