SAP Puts a Web 2.0 Spin on CRM Upgrade The CRM 2007 update aims to bridge the gap between cool user-driven Web applications and fundamental enterprise applications. By James Niccolai December 04, 2007 IDG News Service (Paris Bureau) SAP on Tuesday announced an update to its customer relationship management (CRM) software with a Web 2.0-style interface that could help to increase usage rates among workers. Companies often report that usage levels for their business software is lower than they would like, with salespeople managing accounts in Microsoft Outlook instead of their more expensive CRM software, for example. SAP hopes to address that with CRM 2007, an update to its CRM product that ...

With the new partnership, mobile sales professionals can have leads and opportunities pushed to their BlackBerrys directly from SAP CRM. Similarly, when a mobile user clicks on a contact, the BlackBerry can access up-to-date service or sales orders. SAP executives showed how a sales representative could turn on his BlackBerry, check his calendar for a meeting, access account information, and then call the customer to check in beforehand. He could then log that call into the CRM system with one click...

Every month, Google makes tons of tiny changes to the way search works. It shares them in company blog posts that present a list of carefully scripted bullet points with mysterious code names in an inscrutable order. Google never comments on the changes beyond these announcements, but it's always informative to spread the puzzle pieces out on the table and see what Google is up to. Here's what changed in April. We thought there were a lot of changes in March, but April was even bigger. Google changed 52 things about its search algorithm last month. As usual, you don't need to worry about a bunch of them. But the most interesting of the latest search changes fall into three important categories. Smarter The more Google can guess (correctly) what we're looking for, the faster we can find it. Google is getting better at untangling our spelling mistakes, interpreting our meaning and answering our questions. One update helps Google interpret your intention by looking at your last few...

The word 'Push' has traditionally characterized FMCG sales systems in India. This is changing for the better in many ways. Sales in many companies like HLL, Marico and Colgate is secondary driven. Let me explain this to a reader who is new to sales jargons. Secondary driven basically means that retail orders to the distributor (secondary sale), which are a function of sales from the retail shelf(offtakes), determine the volume of primaries (billing from the company to the distributors - primary sale). In traditional sales systems the disproportionately high targets were driven by billing high volume of stocks to the distributors (primaries) without there being an adequate movement of stock from the distributor point to the trade (secondaries). This system worked as long as the brands has a demand (pull) that was proportionate to this loading. However in case of inadequate offtakes, this extra stock used to lie at the distributor point or die in the shelves of the retailer. In case...
