1 SIP in a Box
2 Evolution vs. Revolution

very true. comcast, AT T and verizon are all fighting who they will allow to transport traffic on thier network replacing POTS lines with VOIP adapters and smart phones.
Praveen Asthana  |  Added idea  "SIP in a Box"  |  4 years ago
SIP might be an open protocol, but networks were built to be proprietary and have not been bridged together. Most telecom services still communicate with each other via public switching, meaning that the wonderful possibilities that SIP might...

Multimedia in Telecom: A business perspective.   Author: P. Abraham Paul.   MD CEO    FCOMNET - FUTUREGROUPS (India)    Introduction:   The past many years saw much hype, due to over projection of the business potential of 3G Telecom, Voice over IP and growth of INTERNET dependant e-Commerce and e-business. Realization came late that most of these high tech propositions, though conceptually attractive and forward looking were going to take time to develop, huge investment and coordinated efforts of various business, technology providers and ISPs  to convert these to marketable and revenue earning products. 3G and other New Generation Networks are great advancement in Information Communicati...

I agree to all the members supporting " against banning" this service... instead a tracking system will be the best option... bcoz the main motive of any technology should be to improve n reduce the cost of the respective services or business......

I agree with Nilesh. Every service that is offered has to have a jurisdiction. This is in fact in the interest of the people getting connected! Most would talk to their relations, but some would talk to business colleagues and business partners...

I don't think that they should be banning the VOIP or the net telephony, i guess the major problem here is the absence of caller line identification  the CLI, and even in the 26/11 attacks terrorists used this net telephony services and they knew...

The US Government has issued a mandate to all vendors to make the switch to an IPv6 platform by summer of 2008. This requirement will boost IPv6 deployment in coming years. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is designed as the successor of IPv4, the current version of the Internet Protocol, for general use on the Internet. IPv6 that is gradually replacing IPv4 worldwide fixes a number of problems in its predecessor, such as lack of IP addresses, routing and network autoconfiguration. However, today’s networks are not ready to leap to the new version right away and IPv6 transition is seen as a serious technical issue that needs immediate attention. This fuels discussions on what impact IPv6 ...

VoIP i.e. Voice over Internet protocol along with Wireless technology is now becoming a threat to the Telecom companies. The reason is simple, with this technology you can talk to your near and dear ones and that too at a price which is much cheaper than calling through a phone. Well according to a report by Juniper Research, Sales for wireless VoIP tech for both dual and single mode devices are forecast to generate global revenues of $82bn by 2012. The marriage of VoIP and wireless technology has gained a lot of attention in the last couple of years, with many industry experts believing it to be the next killer application to revolutionize the telecoms space. The advent of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has brought in quite a few changes. Long distance calls can now be made - without the callers having to worry unnecessarily about call costs. To sell VoIP services has become a talk of town. And quite a few business houses have woken up to the opportunities in this sphere and making the most of the prevalant market trends. VoIP reselling has acquired an importance that is its very own. VoIP resellers have a role between end users and service providers of repute; and they have all the incentive to...

Facebook will have market value of $234 billion by 2015, up from its current valuation of $85 billion, according to an analysis by brokerage firm Wedbush Securities that analyzes the valuations of private companies. Wedbush Securities analyst Lou Kerner, who made this guess in a report last week on the what he called the 'Second Internet', says by 2015 Facebook will earn $11 billion on $22 billion and have a market value of $234 billion, Business Insider said Thursday. "That makes the company's recent second market valuation of $85 billion look like a fine deal indeed,'' the business web site said. In his earlier predictions in February 2010, Kerner had said that Facebook might be worth $100 billion by 2015. But he now thinks Facebook's margins are better - around 50 percent - and that it will get a bigger share of the global ad market, according to the portal. The analyst also believes "that other revenue sources - like Credits - will scale faster than he originally anticipated.''...

In the latest death knell for Outlook Express, Microsoft Corp. announced last week that it will turn off access to its Web-based Hotmail service from the desktop e-mail software at the end of June. Outlook Express users who want to continue to access their Hotmail accounts offline after June 30 are being encouraged by Microsoft to download its free Windows Live Mail software. http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview Users will still be able to use Outlook, the big brother of Outlook Express, to read their Hotmail messages offline, but first they may have to upgrade their Outlook Connector synchronization software, according to information posted online today by Scott Hammer, a Microsoft e-mail support manager. Hammer said that Hotmail users also will still be able to use any other desktop e-mail client that is POP3-compliant, such as the open-source Thunderbird software. Macintosh users, meanwhile, can continue using Microsoft's Entourage e-mail client for the Mac to access Hotmail,...

Written by Nisan Gabbay Facebook was launched in February 2004 by Harvard undergrad students as an alternative to the traditional student directory. Its popularity quickly spread to other colleges in the US by word of mouth, and the site now registers close to 15M monthly UVs and over 6B page views per month. Facebook has completed two rounds of venture financing at very high valuations, the first at a valuation of ~$100M and the second at ~$550M (valuations are unconfirmed). These valuations were driven by the multiple acquisition offers that Facebook has reportedly turned down (the latest was a rumored $750M offer). Facebook is already generating significant revenue, so despite all the valuation and web traffic metric hype, it has also established a very real business. Interviews conducted: Noah Kagan, early product manager for Facebook. Noah will soon release an e-book on Facebook, with good insight on the social networking space. You will be able to download the book at Noah s...

A profit generating business with a social cause is called Social Entrepreneurship. The concept is simple and if applied it can be profitable to you as well as the needy. Examples : 1. There are 51 ambulances running in Maharashtra where if you call the ambulance rich have to pay for it and poor get the service for free. 2. A courier service run by deaf .. thus gives them employment a does profit as well. There can be many other similar things.. We just need to be thoughtful and decide how we want to help ourself along with the society. What is your take on it??

Neural networks in financial engineering Neural networks have shown considerable successes in modeling financial data series. However, a major weakness of neural modeling is the lack of established procedures for performing tests for misspecified models, and tests of statistical significance for the various parameters that have been estimated.  This is a serious disadvantage in applications where there is a strong culture for testing not only the predictive power of a model or the sensitivity of the dependent variable to changes in the inputs but also the statistical significance of the finding at a specified level of confidence. Rarely is this more important than in the case of financial engineering, where the data generating processes are dominantly stochastic and only partially deterministic. Partly a tutorial, partly a review, this paper describes a collection of typical applications in options pricing, cointegration, the term structure of interest rates and models of...
