Why do companies prefer B.Tech Chemical Engineers to B.Tech Biotech in production jobs and M.sc are prefered to B.Techs in R & D

i really want someone from the industry to answer.

If B.Tech's are neither getting jobs in manufacturing nor in R & D sector, then it is not necessary to run the course. It can be scrapped right. But ironically most of the leading universities have started and it is increasing every year.

The industries who prefer B.Tech Chemical engineers to Biotechnologists when it comes to production jobs must realize that the Pharma/biotech field is just one of the career option for chemical engineers . But biotech engineers have no other go. Why would B.Techs waste four years when a biotech Master's degree(M.sc) can be obtained in five years.

Its  the high time the industries must realize this scenario.

It usually depends on the kind of requirement. If the production side is more process oriented then yes chemical engineering suits better than biotech and if there is a need for bio science and technology then B.Tech Biotechs are preferred....
