Factoring in the lessons learnt from the Fukushima episode , a review of all the nuclear installations in the country is underway to weather all possible disasters. *upgradation in safety features of the nuclear plants will apply to the existing ones as well as the new ones( including the proposed Jaitapur plants). *Earth quakes, tsunamis that would trigger waves upto 15 metres, hurricane and floods are the factors taken into consideration. *Four task forces have been set up to upgrade the existing plants and incorporate these in new ones. *According to new measures it has been decided that new plants would not be constructed in high seismic zones of 6 but at most zone 3,where there is plenty of space. *Lessons learnt in Fukushima are taken into consideration in India's safety upgrade process. *According to officials ,the advantage of indian nuclear plants system is that the cooling system here is a multi-layered automatic system .whereas the cooling in the Japanese ones were done through pump systems, which failed once power system went off due to tsunami.
