Over 50,000 pilgrims drawn from different parts of the country and abroad have performed darshan in the holy cave of Swami Amarnath since the pilgrimage started from June 30.

According to official sources on the day five of the yatra today over 13,000 pilgrims performed darshan in the cave shrine. Till late night yesterday 37,000 pilgrims had paid their obeisance at the holy cave.

Official sources said that 6,933 pilgrims left for the cave shrine from Baltal early this evening. Out of them 6,570 pilgrims left via foot while 363 left via chopper.

The sources said while all those who left by the chopper performed the darshan in the holy cave during the day, majority of the yatris who left by foot had reached the cave shrine while others were on their way.

About 4700 yatris left early in the morning from Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp to holy cave. Some of these yatris had reached Panjtarni while others had reached to Sheshnag for the night halt. All these pilgrims will leave for holy cave next morning

Meanwhile a fresh batch of 3185 yatris left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas early this morning for Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in a cavalcade of 128 vehicles.

All the yatris had reached their destinations by late in the evening, said an official spokesman where from they will leave for their onwards sojourn tomorrow morning. The yatris were in high spirits and they expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made by the authorities.

There is total festivity at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas where over 15,00 Amarnath bound yatris had managed to seek their entry by this evening.

Meanwhile Shri Baba Amarnath and Shri Baba Buda Amarnath Yatri Niwas has reiterated its demand of providing separate space with arrangements of langer at different places on both Baltal and Chandanwari tracks for Sadhus.

A spokesman of the Niwas said that it will make all arrangements by itself for the Sadhus provided the Board provides space to it as was done by it at Purani Mandi Ashram here with the cooperation of Mahant Ji.
