The "21st century" is generally assumed to be the most pleasant one. The utterance of this alphanumeric word itself has a lot of positive and good sense. It is an era for India to become a super power. And, in a fast growing country like India, youths have more opportunities like never before. Every other day a new and advanced gadget with surprising & exciting features is being launched. Advancing technologies are making our life easier every day. Our forefather would never had imagined that someday some generation could have air conditioned, cozy, comfortable bus, running in all metros for public transportation. In nutshell, we are living far better life than our ancestors had ever lived.
A million dollar question that often come to mind is ...where are we in this fast moving world? What 21st century has been giving us besides increasing our tempt & desire to be materialistic, wanting to have all latest gadgets, a latest car, one big and luxurious apartment with all sorts of facilities starting from park to Gym and even up to theater within a campus. May be all the desires I mentioned above are typically fit to middle class or upper middle class people. But, none of the class in society is away from this. Everyone wants and struggles to move one level up, and there starts the rat race. For instance, see the latest Adarsh scam in Mumbai. All top notch officers and politicians were involved in scam. They gulped down the flats of worth crores and paid almost nothing as a price. Actually, higher the class we belong to, more the tempt we keep within us.
Now a days in metros, young professional's day dreaming to earn in dollars & pounds are a common scene. Every 2nd person in the street is running behind money to fulfill their never ending materialistic desires which is just a byproduct of this 21st century. Not the essentials of life!
I believe, very few people pause in this fast moving world and take time to rethink about their life. I strongly believe, only a marginal percentage of people, not more than 10-15%, enjoy being the participant of never ending rat race. Rest of the people seems to be dissatisfied with their lives, though earning a handsome money, working in big MNC's, leaving a luxurious life either in metros or in foreign countries. One big and common reason I see at this point of time is, lack of content among youngsters, this is predominantly because of burning desire to become rich and successful. There are many other reasons as well.
People hardly get time to enjoy their personal life. Even though they think they live their personal life, they only live it artificially. Staying away from your parents, relatives and your loved ones itself is a big cause of discontentment. And, as a human, who is also called as social animal, how they will be happy if they don’t have any society, just confined to four walls, not having enough known and favorite neighbors.
Now, I am leaving other reasons & cause to be explored by readers. Do, let me know also if you feel and find any cause of your unhappiness and lack of content in your fast moving, luxurious and successful life.
