A lawsuit has been filed in a court here charging Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan with violating the disabilities act through his latest film Paa in which he plays a 13-year-old boy suffering from progeria, which accelerates the ageing process. Big B has been accused of poking fun at people with disabilities.

The case has been filed by Patna High Court lawyer Shruti Singh in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate under The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. It has also been filed against Paa director R Balkrishna.

And her stand is simple: If it violated the disability act, the authorities should act against the producer and actors of the film for making a joke of disabled people.  She said the court will hear the case next week.

According to Singh, the act is guided by the philosophy of empowering people with disabilities and their associates. The act endeavours to introduce an instrument for promoting equality and participation of people with disabilities on the one hand, and eliminating discrimination of all kinds on the other.

What is this guys, we are seeing these things nearly in every movie where there will be some or the other thing will be hogging limelight than the movie itself, are these controversies just created to give the movie a real good hype or what? We see if a movie is touted to be a big crowd puller and is not doing that well then sudden controversies erupt and that makes the movie stay in news for couple of more days, and may be this strategy is working for them. Are these controversies for real or just an mere eyewash to the public?

This is my general comment on such issues. To greater extent these things are only to create a hype in the market and not on true sense. Ultimately the stars or the producers win at last. This is proved well before. However, those movies based on disabled people are to greater extent good for most of the general public most of the times. It truely reveals how does a particular disabled person may be, or face his remaining life and also how should they be treated. Even they are the part of the society and have equal rights to be part of every event what a normal person is of. I like the impact those movies put on people who are related to those disabled one's. But do we take them lightly until we watch on shows or have a real impact of it on us.. is the question we need to ask... The above controversies i feel are all tp and as u said mere an eyewash to the general public. .... Thank you, Manish N. Cheers!!

I agree with kashif here, every time we see that its the film makers who will be doing such things but then at times it will be the other way around it will be some person trying to get the limelight just because by throwing a lawsuit against personality like Big b gets some or the other attention from the media, people are just using these things to their advantage.

I really agree with Manish here, and these controversies are done just to make people remind of the movie name dragged here and there and which finds itself as crowd puller strategy most of the time, though at times even genuine cases happen but nothing will be followed after a months time and people would have forgotten what the controversy was in the first place as there will be some fresh controversy to brew on. The cycle keeps on going here.....
