This time it is slightly different. Lay-offs are happening amongst investment bankers and traders !
Citigroup plans to lay-off 2000 investment bankers and traders from the Citi Investment Bank before the end of this month. Most of the cuts will come from the bank's major offices in New York and London, the people said, though other markets in Europe and Asia could lose jobs.
With this, Citi Investment team would have cut 10% of its employee base. By the end of the month, it would have laid off 6000 people. The company over all has more than 320,000 employees worldwide.
