Consumerdaddy, an online venture by a group of US based NRIs, has launched a consumer protection website for consumers in India that disburses accurate consumer satisfaction statistics of products in the Indian market place. The one of a kind website is poised to be India’s largest consumer portal with a database of over 40,000 companies’ and 200,000 products’ online consumer reports.
An ignored and underprivileged group, the 300 million+ consumers of India seldom have access to information about corporate fraud, statistics about superior / inferior products, and swift justice in the event of being duped in a purchase. Consumerdaddy aims to address these voids in the consumer protection network through its website which will provide unprejudiced, accurate and comprehensive information about almost all major domestic consumer products and services in India.
Each product’s consumer report on the website provides a synopsis of the experiences of other citizens who have consumed that product. Along with the ability to see data such as consumer reviews, praises and criticisms, for each product it is possible to observe a key consumer protection parameter; i.e., the responsiveness of the company to consumer complaints. The report also condenses consumers’ perception about the product’s individual traits into a consumer satisfaction index labeled the ‘Overall Score’ of the product. This score ranges from 10, for products with the highest levels of consumer satisfaction, to 0, for products with the lowest levels of consumer satisfaction.
The word Consumerdaddy is coined to create an imaginary daddy figure who would come to the rescue of consumers when they are in trouble. “After all we all have turned to our father one time or the other for help when we are in trouble” said Anoop Madhavan, one of the co-founders of the Consumerdaddy concept. “No doubt, information is the most powerful tool and the best help we can provide to anyone for consumer protection!” continued Mr. Madhavan. The website provides a wealth of information and multiple articles about consumer protection in general and how to file consumer complaints in our legal system www.consumerdaddy.com/a-15-how-to-file-a-consumer-complaint.htm.
Two distinctive abilities differentiate this portal from other consumer protection websites. Unlike consumer information provided by many prominent organizations, the consumer reports provided by Consumerdaddy are not created through opinions of “experts” or using data from “internal / proprietary surveys”. Consumerdaddy reports are compiled solely through data received from visitors of the website and presented in a transparent manner free of cost to all consumers.
Secondly, Consumerdaddy strives to resolve any complaints that consumers post on our website by enabling effective alliances with consumer non-governmental organizations (NGO) that have extensive experience in matters related to consumer protection. Unlike other websites that merely provide data on consumer complaints, the Consumerdaddy website empowers 300 million citizen consumers across our country to network with over 40000 consumer product companies through an alternative online consumer dispute redressal system under the mediation of the 80 or so odd consumer NGOs in India.
