Securities market a place where dreams are made ture for someone and for some it is a heart break, but then also people never leave this market. The Indian securities market is quite large as compared to several other emerging markets. There are 22 stock exchanges in the country, though the major trading is shared between the country’s two national level exchangesy,
- National Stock Exchange of India and
- Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd.
These markets are dealing in different - different areas like stock market, derivative market etc.
The data shown below gives the growth structure in these markets over the past eight years i.e. from 1998 to 2006.

The different exchanges which are there have alos grown in these years. This could be seen from the fact that they have an increasing number of brokers, sub-brokers. The table below gives growth of these stock exchanges.
