Future for the biotech industry is great and booming everyday. The first step in this direction was already taken recently, when genetically modified tropical fish with new and brilliant colors appeared in pet stores.

Yet this technology has to progress to become user friendly. Also the breeders of plant species see a big future in this technology.

This business is time consuming and scientists spend their life doing new experiments everyday. Also with emergence of genetic engineering, one can  breed new varieties of roses and orchids. Also, progress is continuing in field of human genome project and deciphering the codes of genetic codes.

Domesticated biotechnology, will help in crop production and in production of variety of new species of nutrition rich food material.New lineages will proliferate to replace those that monoculture farming and deforestation have destroyed. Designing genomes will be successful as maximum efforts are taking place in this regard.

One interesting thing in this regard could be biotech games, designed like computer games for children down to kindergarten age but played with real eggs and seeds rather than with images on a screen. Playing such games, kids will acquire an intimate feeling for the organisms that they are growing.

The winner could be the kid whose seed grows the prickliest cactus, or the kid whose egg hatches the cutest dinosaur. These games will be messy and possibly dangerous. Rules and regulations will be needed to make sure that our kids do not endanger themselves and others. The dangers of biotechnology are real and serious.

So, one has to look for both the positive as well as the negative aspects of this technology and people can work on dimensions of biotechnology which will prove beneficial to mankind.

yes not only no of biotec professionals is required we have to think about quality of them by utilization of innovative and positive approch.....in them u r right mr.prabakaran and anu too

i agree with the comment post here by Mr.Prabakaran Krishnamurthi. As we look into the industry recruitment of fresh young minds in biotech/bioinfo, it shows very less and not truly compansated in comparison to other fields like engineering, management, etc. If a developing country, like ours, wants to show its presence in the exploring world of biotech, then steps should be taken in regard of the above mentioned, otherwise soon we face the problem of shortage of scientists and young talents...........
thanks

I appreciate Mr. Sudhir Mittals comment on Biotechnology - but we need to think of the young, bright emerging biotechnologist coming out of colleges, institutes and Universities and their fate! As per my rough calculation more than 1,00,000 students complete their course including B.Sc.,M.Sc., B.Tech, M.Techs, B.Pharm, M.Pharm in various subjects viz. Microbiology, Biotech., Biochem., Zoology, Botany, Pharma technol., etc. Can we provide jobs for all of them at present conditions? In my opinion NO. What is the fate of these Young talents coming out every year? How many so called Biotech companies in India can recruit these young and bubbling talents? Are we not giving a very big HYPE about Biotechnology? Let us think of the resources and try utilizing them in a systematic and phased manner to avoid frustrations in the young talents!!!!
