Thanks Mr. Murthy and Virag for referral.  Mr. Kaialsh, you and everyone who is involved in serious business would know that the Indian Switch Market (low voltage) is ruled by Gray Market in India.  Market penetration happens so fast in cost-effective (use and throw) models.  Market surveys, as available in internet sites, and suggested by many very valued friends in Toostep, could be taken as the indicators. There is a huge gap between what is projected on internet by these market research companies (many of them form a representative samples that may not reflect the reality) and the reality in market.  Chinese cost-effective products penetrate in Indian market so easily compared to Indegenous products.  Therefore, you may like to exercise utmost caution and consult Industry experts before venturing into serious business.  Thanks once again for referral.

Variances tend to be there in surveys because of the differences in the tools applied for the survey.  The gap is roughly around $235 millions.  Surveys can only provide  rough figures.  I believe the gap is not that wide.  It is always better  to test the waters, before venturing for a prudent entrepreneur.  You are on the right path and this will be winning path for you. Thanx @ Srinivas - i have also commissioned a survey and have details from other agencies including Market Plus. Still there is a huge varriance a summary of estimates says that by 2015 the market size should touch Rs.5000 cr $ 1.1 blln.

As per the survey conducted my Market Plus the Switch market in India is valued at $506.4 millions.  This is expected to reach $765.5 millions by 2014, with an average annual growth rate of around 10%.  Modular switches are contributing 50% of the market value.  However, only 10% Indian households have these modular switches.  One other notable point here is that Electricians plays a dominant role in the selection of brands.  Out of every 100 purchases, 56 brands selections are made by the electricians and 11% by the retailers.  This means, the real purchasers lacks knowledge of this area.  They need to educated or else electricians have to be taken into confidence.  Anchor is the present market leader followed of Havells.  About 500 brands are in the market being manufactured by 100 players.
