Mobile email is quickly becoming an entrenched part of the executive lifestyle. It is also gaining in popularity for the mainstream consumer as technology improves and becomes easier to use. Everyone Benefits by using it...when i am out of my home this i probably the only source for me to get connected.
The increasing levels of pervasiveness of mobile email across today's workforce is realizing significant gains in productivity, just as the mobile phone did as it made its way toward ubiquity. Obstacles, such as the cost of the devices and service will change as competition grows and the technology evolves.
Given the kind of usage it is still way behind in terms of consumer acceptance. one of the primary reasons being the features that tare present are not up to the standards and still lot has to be done in terms of providing service.
Looking from the marketing angle, i think a developer should realise the actual need and as well as the features that have to be added. one should ask What do I need to do to ensure my mobile customers have a positive experience with my email? Lacking an adequate set of published resources, we powered up our mobile email rendering solution and began examining what a variety of business- to-business and analyst newsletters were doing to optimize the mobile user's experience. Our hope, of course, was that as purveyors of industry expertise, they were likely to have implemented all the latest best practices and would serve as guiding lights on how to do it right.
SO WHAT CAN BE DONE? after reading various articles and research papers what i can conclude is in terms of what can be done is future but what can be avoided is in our hands. what wrong we are doing can serve us a lessons. here are few points that we have to follow...
* Keep it light -- 20kb or less.
* Use multiparts -- and don't forget the text part.
* One column is better than two or more.
* Don't rely on images to convey critical information
Mobile Email is moving center stage. Mobile operators are looking to drive substantial growth in data revenues from enabling email on a wide range of mobile phones. The takeaway here is that mobile is on the move. People are walking, driving and flying with their email in their pocket. As the mobile market grows and becomes a staple rather than an incidental, understanding the limitations of the platform will be crucial to establishing and maintaining a clear and compelling communication channel with an "on-the-go" audience.
