NEW DELHI: Handset maker Motorola Mobility India has announced the launch of its Android-based 3G smartphone Defy priced at Rs 18,990.
"With all the features consumers expect in a smartphone, Defy packs advanced web browsing, entertainment and messaging capabilities as well as a design that withstands the challenges of everyday life," Motorola Mobility India Country Head Faisal Siddiqui said.
The 3G-enabled Android handset is equipped with 3.7-inch touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, and expandable memory up to 32 GB. Android is a mobile operating system, initially developed by Google and later by the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 47 hardware, software and telecom companies.
Being an opensource operating system, Android allows developers to design applications like games, music players and location-based services, independent of the handset type.
" Motorola Defy is dust proof and water resistant, which protects you from life's little challenges like a sudden rain shower, spilt drink, or dropping your phone in the sand. It also features a large, resilient display that has outstanding protection against scratch damage," the statement said.
