The session started by comparing the SaaS model with the Software model by giving the example of having an executable floating on different computers. And by this how many problems are resolved using the SaaS model. Advantages are like there is no need of downloading, installation and updating the software. No version clashes, everyone is on the same version, which also  makes HR independent of the IT department. Then the customer gets the Pay as you go model.  The travel cost is reduced as no customer visit is required for installation and upgrade. Support cost is significantly reduced in the SaaS model. Customer doesn’t have to bear the cost incurred for IT support. In a way SaaS model is beneficial for both the provider and the customer.

The conclave also came out with conclusion that there is going to be a whole paradigm shift from software service to Saas and in SaaS model the service provider interacts with the end user directly rather than the IT department of the customer. The customer doesn’t have to worry about the hardware upgrade, no storage upgrade or any memory upgrade is needed on upgrading the software. The customer is free from scaling of hardware and IT support but there is a problem for the service provider. Now provider has to worry about the resource scaling and the support overhead.

So what do you think on this Transformation that we are seeing? Where it will go from here?

Nice article Sumitra, really very informative. Thanks for sharing...This transformation certainly will be beneficial for the common public as it will help the end users to converse easily with the service providers without caring the inherent IT Department of the client.

This transformation will certainly add significant values to the client. This will eliminate TCO factors, security, upgrades, etc. End users interacting directly withy the Service Provider without caring the inherent IT Department of the client will lead to internecine conflict which would eventually lead to administrative issues.

So g+ is trying hard to survice now we have brand pages on g+ too. To add to this they have added game apps to lure people. but are there enough people to make this work? Will game apps do any good to g+?
