Sony ericcson plans to upgrade its Android 2.1 equipped Xperia X10 to Android 2.3 Gingerbread towards the end of the second quarter or beginning of the third quarter this year.Sony ericsson at first said that they would not update Xperia beyond 2.1 Eclair, however consumer demand made the company to relent. When Gingerbread is added to Xperia X10 , customer using Eclair will loose some features. Facial recognition and smile shutter will be gone,for the handset will force a changeover to the standard Android camera interface. Backup and restore features of the phone will also be lost.
Sony ericsson also said that after upgrading their devices ,users wont be able to downgrade to Android 2.1.
