Companies like Infosys and Wipro are just abusing the talent of this country to reap moolah from the big corporations abroad. They are wasting the potential of this country by producing first grade software clerks. They do not pay their employees well, do not share profit and only make their employees slog like anything. You didn't mention TCS, but Tata group is the topmost in exploitation. I am sure a mass movement will start in this country to punish those rabid capitalists.

Of course, the IT/ITES companies are not paying their employees commensurate with their profits YET and it really is a big YET... Indian software "clerks" are getting paid better than in any other industry.

Exploitation of human resources was the state of affairs in all private businesses in the 1940's and 50's. Thats why the first Indian Prime Minister Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru established the Public Sector to give employment, social security and help in the nation's progress. However the people misused the opportunity and the Public Sector Industries became slack, ineffecient and unprofitable. The country was forced to open up several protected areas to private entrepreneurs. The result is again exploitation of the masses by a handful of owners who have amassed huge amounts of money without caring for human values or ethics. The greed of some has become a misery for the masses.

Companies must rethink about their set benchmark. I heard a new term 'meritocracy' when I was pursuing Bachelor Degree. I heard it at some interactive program conducted by one of the most famous IT companies in India. This is the most vile effect of the ongoing rat race in pursuit of meritocracy. A certain company say that their training program is equivalent to Computer Science Grad degree of MIT or Stanford University. Next day another company will come up with a new idea (rather a new advertisement) that their employees deal clients faster than the speed of light and give their name e=mc^2. Now this daydream will mark their fictitious benchmark for other competitors and the trainees will be asked to deliver 110% or 120% of their ability.

I agree with Shyam S; in mostly all the industries and departments, the work level for even highly qualified Indian ppl is extremely poor. Most of the big wigs are foreigners. Indian ppl who have gained some monopoly, never let others break even. It's a shame!

It's very pathetic. IITs all over India and IIMs are the most depressing places to study, and we generally tend to isolate these people instead of obeying them. It's very ironical that emotionally these people are the most overrated and underperforming ppl that are there! I personally, never stay in the cirlce of such ppl because they are always under some mental or physical problem, always!! Also, these ppl never let others prosper, despite being at the COO< CEO level, and will make you work like an ass even at an Asstt Manager level. We hate IITians and IIMites, they are the most depressing ppl in India today. It's better if they leave the country!!

Ii's not question of specific company. Everywhere in the world peoples are facing so much pressure specially in software companies for deadlines. Company also have to take necessary precutions on this issue. We always try to increase our mental power. We have to spend time with our family members, friends, going for travelling on weekends.

I would like to add that it is not the case of info/wipro or Software co. alone it can be with other "big" org also. In order to fulfil their own purpose they dont take much care for their employees benefits like salary, healthcare, etc.

The situation of most IT staff are like being inside pressure cookers. Most have no time for physical or mental leisure. In addition many get entrapped in ill planned financial commitments beyond their means and any threat of instability in job situations that is common in IT industry adds to the pressure. The HR policies followed by many companies are to be blamed for this.

A suicide attempt is a clear indication that something is gravely wrong in a person’s life. No matter the race or age of the person; how rich or poor they are, it is true that most people who commit suicide have a mental or emotional disorder. INFOSYS is a very big and advanced company specially in the field of Computer science, and if all this activities already occured here on regular base then really it is very shamefull. We all of us must take a strong action against this. but at the same time we also provide or suggest a solution for this. we analyse the main reason behind this and take all required action to minimise these types of suicidal attemps.

May be they are unable to face the cosequences & not able to sustain the pressure & it is not happening only in Infosys , but also with other comapnies like Wipro, IBM.
Thanks for referral, Darshana.

We lay too much emphasis on quality on par with high international standards, as these companies to cater to fortune 500 companies. The standards set, therefore, are very high and our students are not brought up in such environment as that of Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, etc. The employees who are selected from various Engineering colleges across the country are forced to undergo very rigorous training in the centres. Many could cope up the stress, whereas students from mofussils, they lack behind for various physical, environmental and psychological reasons, that forces them to go for an extreme step.

once recruited trainee itself, the confirmation as a permanent employee be made mandatory.
I dont think it's Infosys alone. Today morning an IBM guy committed suicide. Suicides are mostly from IT sector. May be stress levels are more.. As a person belonging to IT sector, you will be able to throw some light on this, Darshana !!

This is amazing though committing suicides is there in every profession i.e. Medical (AIIMS), IITs etc but concern is Infosys being such an respectable organisation do not take preventive counter measures for the same????

It happens even in Class 10 & 12 exams.
i agree the loss is unbearable.
But i didn't find any thing wrong with Infosys.
They required to concentrated on soft skills development to improve the Confident level during their training time.
