These new models leverage the Intel® Xeon® processor 7500 series (code name: Nehalem-EX) as well as the recently announced Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series (code name: Westmere-EP).
These new servers give Unisys customers a choice of scale-out and scale-up approaches to solutions such as virtualization, affording them a range of options to streamline their data centres, power cloud computing infrastructures and control IT costs.
Capitalising on a long-standing alliance, Unisys is delivering servers with Intel's new Xeon technology that give customers new foundations for extending their application environments and transforming their data centres for competitive advantage.
Enterprise server models additions and enhancements announced include the:
- ES7000 Model 7600R G2 enterprise server that can support up to 64 cores and 128 threads in 8 sockets. This scalability, complemented by enterprise-class reliability and availability, makes this server ideal for consolidation and virtualization of multiple systems into a smaller number.
- ES5000 Model 5400B G2 blade server that is based on the new 6-core Intel Xeon Processor 5600 series, and can support one or two sockets. Up to 14 of these blade servers can be configured in the new ES5000 Model 5230R Blade Enclosure. The new ES5000 is well suited for demanding data center applications.
- ES3000 Mid-Range Servers include the ES3000 Model 3590R G1, the newest and most powerful system in the family. It uses the 8-core Intel Xeon Processor 7500 series supporting up to four sockets in a rack configuration. This model is ideal for virtualization, consolidation and database-intensive business applications. In addition, Unisys has enhanced ES3000 Models 3530R, 3560R and 3560T to support the 6-core Intel Xeon Processor 5600 series.
