1976 - 1988 From Mar 2006 Consultant - Management and Financial Services With Sydney as base, I was frequently travelling to India, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, USA and Kenya along with Trade and Business delegations and on my own, arranged some successful investments into India, Australia and Africa. Finally, I have decided to resettle in India and moved back in March 2008. During the same period, I was closely associated, advised and established RK Civil Construction Company, successfully tendered, obtained and executed major civil works for Major malls, NSW Government and Local bodies in Sydney. During my visits to Hyderabad, I was associated with, Hi Tech Tele Systems and Kalyan Cell-net - Companies established to install cellular towers for Nortel Networks, structured the companies and their operations, prepared business plans and arranged long term and short term finances. Set up Bridge Gap Solutions, Adviser to SEED - Solar Energy for Efficiency and Development, Structured Malladi Foods for Export Markets, Management Consultancy for DSR Solutions Etc. More importantly, I got back my local skills and expertise to handle in the current business and market trends taking place in the country. Aug 2003 - Mar 2006 Director, Qtech Solutions India Limited CFO, ConceptLabs Inc., Qtech Inc. CA USA As a was a core member of ConceptLabs, promoted Qtech Inc, a California based Technology Company and an Indian subsidiary Qtech Solutions India Limited which obtained a Global License for Palm Operating System [Palm OS] to develop, manufacture and market state of the art Smartphones with mobile technology on a Palm platform with PDA features. It was one the most timely and ambitious projects of the time. Although, the finances were arranged, technical software and proto types developed; strategically the project was thought to be unviable in the face of the MNCs huge stakes in the Indian Mobile Market. The company branched off into a state of the art tech product by name reQall which is being offered on the latest iPhone. I moved over to my core area of Finance and Management. Sep 2001 - July 2003 Associate - Consultant Sterling and Deere, Chartered Accountants Count West Investment Services Having moved to Sydney, Australia I thought it appropriate to start my innings through a professional firm where I get a full handle of the Corporate Advisory services and ASX compliance, Tax Returns, Business Advise as part of orientation of Australian Business practices and statutory laws compliance. It was an excellent all round experience in understanding and advising on corporate tax planning, investment decisions and business expansions. July 1995 - Feb 2001 Group Financial Controller Gulf Africa Petroleum Corporation - GAPCO Reported to the Chairman and Board of Directors Gulf Africa, imports, stores and distributes petroleum products from oil terminals, storage facilities and over 600 gas stations in the region. I was in control of an asset base of USD 225 million, annual turnover in excess of USD 275 million and profit level of USD 28 million operated by 525 core employees. GAPCO started off at a base of USD 20 million asset base and USD 30 million in turnover when I joined them in 1995. I was part of senior executive team driving the strategic direction, played vital role in the regional expansion in: negotiations, taking over, merging, restructuring and managing Esso, Caltex and Agip operations in East Africa and Sudan. Handled procurement, storage, distribution, retail sales and transportation of petroleum products. In charge of costing, pricing, multi currency treasury operations, financial management, profit centre controls, management information etc. As part of the management team, I have awarded contracts for fuel supplies, gas station operations and down stream distribution after tendering. I have participated in tender process, competed with all major oil companies and obtained major contracts for supply of fuel oil for power plants in Mombassa [USD 2.20 million per month], Nairobi [USD 2.50 million per month] and diesel oil supply to Kenya Railways [USD 1.2 million per month] Maintained liaison with Ministry of Energy, petroleum refinery, industry research group and other major oil companies for implementation of energy policy of the country. I have arranged over USD 95 million for GAPCO group, long term and short term funds from HSBC Bank - New York, BNP Paribas - Paris, African Development Bank, Standard Chartered Bank [besides a number of local banks] for Expansion and Operations. Structured finance for M and A and working capital requirements of day to day operations to achieve the targeted turn over and profitability. Played a key role in Hotels and Lodges Mauritius, part of the group, acquiring a chain of exclusive hotels in the wildlife game parks of Tanzania for USD 28 million and a refurbishment and expansion plan of USD 15 million. Established the operations of Transenergy Kenya Ltd, a regional petroleum transport company with Mack truck and tankers, a subsidiary of GAPCO. Established the franchise of marketing and distribution of Executive and luxury 4WD Ssangyong Motorcars in East Africa, also part of the GAPCO group. Jan 1994 - Jul 1995 Financial Controller Interchick Ltd, and Tan Breed Ltd. Reported to the Chairman and General Manager Interchick was the largest integrated poultry industry in Tanzania with 65% market share and run by 650 employees. I lead a team for expansion into chicken processing and arranged US$ 1.6 million long term finances from IFC (Washington) In charge of USD 6 million assets and USD 10 million sales turnovers. Mar 1990 - Dec 1993 Group Financial Controller Kingsway Holdings Ltd. Reported to Executive Chairman and Board of Directors Kingsway Group was a diversified business house with an annual turnover of USD 100 million and over 1600 employees. The group has interests in automotive franchises, tyre distribution, property development and holdings and computers dealerships and distribution. I have set up new ventures: Village Market - USD 35 million - Shopping mall, Medical Manufacturers Ltd - USD 3.75 million disposable syringes facility and Cottex Ltd. - USD 3 million export garment factory. I have arranged finances for long term and short term for on going operations and new projects. I have advised on the groups strategic planning, financial control and profitability. I have prepared feasibility studies, processed applications and obtained three banking licenses for group associates. April 1988 - Dec 1990 Promoter and Director, AP Power Tools Ltd Arranged collaboration with Consortex, Hamburg, Germany and procured a USD 30 million financial packages from DEG German Development Bank, Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation (ICICI) and various commercial banks. At one point, I thought it better to remain as a professional instead of turning into an entrepreneur; I left the project to my other technical promoters and left to Kenya on an invitation. During the same period as a Consultant Prepared financial feasibility studies, business plans and arranged finances from banks and financial institutions to: Basic Breeders Ltd - USD 4 million high-tech pure line and parent line poultry project and three deep-sea fishing projects (USD 7 million) Consultant to Vitabiotics Ltd, a pharmaceutical company, Bhaskar Palace Hotel, Controls and Schematics Ltd, electrical controls company, besides a number of local projects. Feb 1976 - March 1988 Director and Financial Adviser Margadarsi and Eenadu Group and reported to the Chairman. This is a highly diversified group of companies with a turn over of USD 185 million and 3500 employees. I played a very involved management and executive role in multi tasking in the groups growth, expansion and diversification.
