I've been working for India's largest Steel manufacturing company, for the past 25 years and presently head one of its Materials Management Divisions.Having acquired qualifications such as Accredited Purchasing Practioner and Life Time certified Purchasing Manager from ISM, USA and MBA (Birla Institute of Technology,Messra, Ranchi)and M.Sc. (Stats & OR) from Patna University , I feel I owe a lot to my profession whose enrichment through my efforts is an essential obligation for me. Brief summary :
Heading a group of enthusiastic and energetic people is a challenge as well as a source of immense pleasure as you have the liberty to set the targets and see it's achieved with the same bunch of people. Although the volume of Purchase and the transaction in Stores is quite moderate here , being in a PSU, all the procedures, systems etc are to be followed and the desired results also to be achieved. Peter Drucker's book , People, Procedure and Profit amply suits this kind of a working scenario.
