I agree Darshana! But I think the problem is largely with parents who try to live their dreams through their kids by forcing their aspirations upon them. Years back, a simple word of appreciation gained among one's peers and elders was adequate but...

Emergence of organised retail has caused kiranas to evolve with time. They now understand the importance of providing service cost competitiveness. It is surprising to note that inspite of big retails chains having the advantage of economies of...

Actually I am going to disagree with the question! Because I don't think the kiranas ever went out of business. Organized Retailing in India is not for the common man (read that as the guys who own 2-wheelers) as you will need a car to commute to the...

Rajgopal I agree with you the kiranas are still in the business. As you said most of the Indians are not used to mall culture. The mall culture has hit only certain cities and majority of other parts of India depend only on kiranas. So we cannot...

Enhancing customer shopping experience is an art. Every customer is unique in terms of what makes them happy and what makes them enjoy what they are doing. There are a lot of things these days that retailers use to make the customer happy when they walk into their store. Unfortunately, these things need to be renewed periodically. Most commonly used are ambiance, lighting, pleasant temperature, good fragrance, music and video. These things have now become a mandatory requirements. Modern customers now look for convenience, time-saving and something that they can control on their own. Internet is fast becoming more like a utility similar to water and electricity in everyone’s life today. In ...

Indian Retailers should also pay attention to details like not having to launch their bucket brigade to commence cleaning after opening the shop. Same goes for Retailers who restock their merchandise during peak shopping hours. Strange, managers do not...

During the past 36 years of my global service I have traveled to 5 continents and though I have not counted, may have stayed in over 500 hotels ranging from the Bally in Las Vegas to dumps that I do not wish to remember! I am keen to learn from our members particularly about useless glues relation practices that Hotels should avoid. For e.g. Mint on your pillow will be a good idea for a couple but I think it is completely lost on a business traveller who reteurns to his bed after a 'hard' day's work. Or like the ritualistic welcome drink served 6-00 am when you check in makes you wonder if the hotel is looking at you as one convenient waste site. While we are at it let us also include ineff...

Huh? I expected such a reaction alright! Simply put, Tandem Teaching is a concept where 2 or more subject matter experts (SME) teach a topic to an audience in a live virtual classroom (LVC). For example, I conduct LVCs covering over 35 topics on Retailing as 90-minutes lecture sessions at www.WiZiQ.com and let us say I am delivering a lecture to a group of participants (who can be situated anywhere), on RFID. I can commence a 30-minutes lecture on the basics of RFID and invite YOU an expert situated in Mumbai for the rest of the 60-minutes to continue the session on say implementing RFID projects. Result? Knowledge squared! Come, participate in a free session that I conduct at WiZiQ...
